Paula Stinnett, Fort Oglethorpe City Council woman and mayor pro tem, was recently awarded the Outstanding Elected Official Grand Award by the Georgia Urban Forestry Council for her efforts to make Fort Oglethorpe a successful tree city.

Stinnett was the honored with the accolade on Nov. 2 at 2016 Urban Forestry Awards in Young Harris, Ga.

Grand Awards were given in areas such as Greenspace, Education, New Development, and Streetscape vitalization.

“Ms. Stinnett is to be commended for her proactive approach to getting a sound urban forestry program started in Fort Oglethorpe,” said Lynne Beckley, executive director of the Georgia Urban Forest Council. “Her understanding of the importance of trees to a healthy quality of life for citizens is outstanding and no doubt will inspire other leaders in her area.”

Stinnett says she’s passionate about trees in Fort Oglethorpe and that she was very appreciative of the award.

“This was an honor to receive and serves to inspire me to computer) to be able to guess the message without the key or guess the key.

Today the better security is with keys that are 256 or 512 bytes long where 128 was considered secure just a few years ago. Faster machines get there quicker. They can break keys so they will keep getting longer.

You can use Virtual Private networks (VPN) to send messages between computers encrypted. Web pages can also use encryption and use the https protocol with the share with others the importance of trees in our community and other programs offered by the Georgia Forestry Commission,” Stinnett said. encryption methods so only the sender and receiver know what was sent.

If you are sending personal information across the network you want to use encryption. The web page should show https at the beginning of it instead of http and on many browsers it will also show a lock in the locked position. If the lock is not in the locked position or it does not start the page address with http do not send personal information such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, credit or debit card numbers, etc. on that page. If it is a known merchant call them and ask them why it isn’t a secure page. You may be on a spoofed page that looks like the merchant or bank, but belongs to someone else who is stealing the information.

You will find more and more general web pages also now using https instead of http.
