The Generals’ roster includes six seniors; Shayla Ludy (wing/ guard), Tori Harvey (point guard), Alexis Bolden, Sidney Smith (post), Mary Gray and Mary Margaret Jost.

Bryant said while they have leadership from the upperclass­men, they’re also seeking their to help out including guard Ansley Bice. She replaces the only Generals from the starting lineup that graduated, Jenny Grant.

“We have some good leadership, and we have some good players in our seniors,” he said. “We also know we have some other players that are also pretty good too.”

While Heritage has had its share of bad luck early on with injuries, Bryant said they can reach their goals are obtainable if everyone stays healthy.

“We’ve had a few injuries early on, he said. “But, overall we’re excited. We think we have a shot at winning region again if we can stay healthy.

Junior Nicole Fine is also a key player along with sophomores, Emily Wiley, Sarah Bandy and Regan Armour.

Bryant said the Generals have been working hard in the weight room, and are stronger physically as well as more mature.

“We’ve had tears and frustratio­ns,” he said. “I think the only way to get over it is to go out and try to get another home game (in the state playoffs) and try to get another win.”

Bryant said it was a long way away, but he planned to take it “one game at a time.”

Heritage entered the first week of the region 4-0 overall.
