Brewton-Parker College softball lands ProStar’s Fish

-

The connection between the North Georgia area and Brewton-Parker College continues to grow as Julia Fish (Class of 2018) of ProStar Fastpitch has committed to Coach Randy Crawford and Coach Nate Tompkins following her visit on Thursday of last week.

Fish, who attends Coahulla Creek High School after starting her prep career at Northwest Whitfield, becomes the latest in a solid group of ProStar players that have decided to cast their lot with the small NAIA school in Mount Vernon, Ga.

Previous signees or commits include Morgan Parris, Lindsey Adams, Destiny Parker and Holyn Holsomback.

“I felt very comfortable on my visit and workout at Brewton-Parker College,” she said through a press release. “I loved the way the girls and coaches interacted with each other and it was obvious the amount of money that is being spent to upgrade the facilities.”

Fish is a power hitting corner for ProStar Fastpitch splitting her time between first base and third base. She has also seen time in the outfield and catcher. She is in her second year with ProStar.

“This is the third college visit that I have been on and it is the first time that I have felt at home,” she added. “I plan to major in education and I feel that I will benefit from the small class sizes. It helps that there are other ProStar players that will be at BPC with me. Morgan and Destiny will play there in the spring of 2018 and I will enroll at the same time as Lindsey and Holyn. I wanted to go

away to college, but stay close enough that family and friends could visit.”

“I am extremely proud of Julia and the amount of time she has put in to reach the goal of a college scholarship,” ProStar Coach Steve Chattin said. “She came to us as a catcher, but has transitioned nicely into a corner infielder that can play outfield if needed. Over the last 18 months she has become much better hitter in consistency without losing any of her natural power. She will be a strong doubles and home run hitter for BrewtonParker.

“She is a perfect example of a young lady that has bought into the ProStar Fastpitch plan for college recruiting.

She is the daughter of Dawn Johnson and Greg Fish, along with siblings Lauren and Eli. She has lettered in track and attends CrossPointe Church.

“I want to make sure and thanks my parents for the way they have supported me over the years,” Fish added. “I also need to thank the ProStar program and the coaches. Coach Chattin has guided me in my search and individual lessons but I am also extremely appreciative of Coach (Gary) Hammontree and all the other coaches.”
