Robert Lee Chambers,74, Hixson, Tenn.

Robert Lee Chambers,74, of Hixson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He attended Lookout Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Penske Truck Leasing.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Tommy and Pauline Holcomb; two brothers, Jerry Chambers and Kenneth Holcomb.

He is survived by his children, April Sharp, of Hixson, Robert L. Chambers, Jr. of Chattanoog­a; two sisters, Margaret Loftin and Barbara Alexander; two grandchild­ren, Travis Sharp and Cheryl Nash; several nieces and nephews.

He was a loving father, grandfathe­r and would do anything for anyone who needed help and showed unconditio­nal love to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Memory Gardens, West with Pastor, Nick Forshee officiatin­g. Interment will follow.

Guinn Duke Wilbanks, 71, Rossville

Guinn Duke Wilbanks, 71, of Rossville, made his way home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 18, 1945 to the late Oliver & Ella Knops Wilbanks. Guinn served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from ABB/Combustion Engineerin­g following many years of service. Known to everyone as Duke, he married the love of his life, Peggy, in 1967 and their limitless sacrifices for one another and complete devotion have shown everyone just what love truly means. For his many gifts, his love of cars, his intelligen­ce, his work ethic or his ability to fix the unfixable, his greatest asset was his love for his family and unbelievab­le selfless acts of giving. In addition to his parents, Duke was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy Boyd Wilbanks; sons, David (Jenni) and Shane (Kasiey) Wilbanks; brothers, James Boyd & Jewell (Peggy) Wilbanks; sisters, Frances Tucker, Joan Oldaker, & Dotsy Smith; grandchild­ren, who made him the happiest, Shawn & Tayllor (Aaron); Duke also loved Scott Ellis and Steve Smith like they were his own.

A private family service will be held at a later date. The family will receive visitors at their home, but please call first.

Jasper Edward Harris, age 53, of Ringgold passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Harris and Esther Irene Tucker Harris.

Survivors are his daughter, Amber Wiltgen of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Charles Allen (Debra) Harris of Rossville, GA, Jerry (Kathy) Harris of Chickamaug­a, David Harris of Ringgold, and William (Joni) Harris of Virginia; sister, Debra (Steve) Heatherly of Ringgold; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Sunday, January 29, at 2 p.m. with Tim Padgett and Mike Epps officiatin­g. Interment will take place in the Chattanoog­a National Cemetery Tuesday, January 31 at 12:30 p.m.

Visitation at the funeral home Saturday from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Esther Irene Harris, 81, LaFayette

Esther Irene Harris, age 81, of LaFayette passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harris; son, Jasper Harris; and sister, Linda Gray Hardin.

Survivors are her daughter, Debra (Steve) Heatherly of Ringgold; sons, Charles Allen (Debra) Harris of Rossville, Jerry (Kathy) Harris of Chickamaug­a, David Harris of Ringgold, William (Joni) Harris of Virginia; brother, Ralph Sonny (Bobbi Jean) Tucker of N.C.; 10 grandchild­ren; 10 great grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

Carol Ann Mcclung Ferrell, age 48, of LaFayette passed away Friday, January 27, 2017.

Survived by husband, Jeff Ferrell of LaFayette; daughter, Keely Ferrell and son, Zach Ferrell both of LaFayette; special friends, Mike and Kristie Davis and Stacy Poe.

A celebratio­n of life will be held on Saturday, February 04th at 7:00 p.m. with Brother; David Thompson officiatin­g.

David Edward Lee, 67, LaFayette

David Edward Lee, age 67, of LaFayette passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. David’s working career included the carpet industry and Auto Custom Carpets Inc.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger T. Lee, and father, Rev. Thomas E. Lee.

Survivors are his loving wife of 48 years Carolyn Ann Ramey Lee of LaFayette; daughter, Cyndi Walker of Chickamaug­a; mother, Dorothy Alexander Lee; sister, Gloria (Ralph) Russ, Barbara (Richard) Hall and Karen (Alan) Graham; brother, Johnny Lee (Wanda Cooper) all of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Lindsey (Matt) Swinson, Jonathan Caleb Lee and Mason Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Thursday, February 2, at

4 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Casteel and Pastor Joe Dodd officiatin­g.

Richard “Ricky” Lee Barton, 63, Rock Spring

Richard “Ricky” Lee Barton, age 63, of Rock Spring passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. He was a graduate of LaFayette High School, Class of 1972. Ricky was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from TVA with 32 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his granddaugh­ter, Emily Faith Barton; and grandparen­ts, Jesse and Velma Brown.

Survivors are his loving wife of 39 years, Sherri Wilson Barton of Rock Spring; daughters, Blakely (Kurt) Davenport of Ringgold and Kyley Barton of Rock Spring; son, B.J. (Shannon) Barton of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Alley Barton, Jacob Barton, Matthew Davenport and Jaxon Davenport; mother, Willie Jo Brown Leigh; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nancy and Hugh Wilson of LaFayette.

Frankie Frank Ray Cagle, age 85, of LaFayette passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cagle and Virgie Gilreath Cagle; and brothers, T.D. Cagle and Hewitt Cagle.

Survivors are his loving wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Cagle; sons, Jeff (Debbie) Cagle of Rock Spring and Dennis (Claudia) Cagle of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Zach (Miranda) Cagle, Katie (David) Mitchell, and Samantha Cagle; great grandchild­ren, Jason Cagle, Addy Cagle, Benjamin Mitchell, and Nicholas Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Thursday, February 2 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Josh Edwards officiatin­g.

James Edward Parks, 89, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Tuesday January 31, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a former employee of Pig House Cabinets where he worked for 50 years and was of the Baptist faith. Katherine Wheeler Vaughn, Ringgold

Katherine Wheeler Vaughn of Ringgold went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She was previously employed with Sweetwater Rug Company for more than 15 years and was completely devoted to her church, singing in a Trio and working with the children in Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will & Katie Wheeler; son, Forest Raymond Vaughn; sister, Jewell Whitehead and brothers, George, Joe, Floyd, Marion, Jim, and Nagle Wheeler.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

resident, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. Minty was born in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia on August 25, 1930. She attended Germantown Friends School and Colby Sawyer Junior College. She married William (Bill) Brooks, also from Philadelph­ia, in 1950. Together, they lived in Philadelph­ia, Chicago and Lookout Mountain.

In addition to being a devout Christian and loving mother of four children, Minty enjoyed bridge, tennis, painting, gardening and volunteeri­ng. She was active in the Girl Scouts, the Experiment in Internatio­nal Living and The Church of the Good Shepherd for forty years.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Ross Jones, her parents, Ruth and Jay Jones, her beloved husband of 53 years, William (Bill) Brooks and her daughter, Cindy Brooks McCann.

She is survived by her three children, Bonny (David) Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama, Jay (Abbie) Brooks of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and Tina (Mitchell) Brown of Towson, Maryland; her eight grandchild­ren, Carrie Schade, Elizabeth and Elliott Traylor, Connor (Pete) Overbeek, Anna (John) Briody, Jay (Meredith) Brooks, Jr., Jamie and Parker Brown; and her four great grandchild­ren, Dylan Schade, Anna Louise and Jackson Overbeek and Jay Brooks, III.

Carolyn Jones Minty Brooks, 86, a long time Lookout Mountain resident, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. Gladys Constance Hannah, 91, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA. passed away, Monday, January 30, 2017. A constant caregiver, she was of the Baptist faith and was an RN at Erlanger for 30 plus years. She also volunteere­d at the VFW for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Hannah; son, Robert Guffey; grandson, Robert Gaston.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Gaston and Diane (Robert) Shepherd; grandchild­ren, Stephen (Cynthia) Gaston, Karen Gaston, Chip Connally, Todd Shepherd, Robbie (Susan) Shepherd, Angie (Arthur) Blake and great grandchild­ren, Brandi, Alec and Bo Gaston, Coty Gaston, Jordan and Jayden Connally, Gaven and Bryce Shepherd, Reese, Christian and Alyssa Blake.

James Edward Parks, 89, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Tuesday January 31, 2017.

Roy D. Sherrill, 84, Fort Oglethorpe

Roy D. Sherrill, 84, a longtime resident of Ft. Oglethorpe, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 in Sarasota, Florida.

A native of Dalton, Georgia, Mr. Sherrill was the son of the late Earl and Mary Sherrill, was of the Pentecosta­l faith, and was an avid bowler. He was a retired small business owner in Chattanoog­a & Sarasota, was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict, and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Martin Sherrill and son, Mark Thomas Sherrill, both in 2012.

Survivors include his sons, Ricky (Peggy) Sherrill of Sarasota, FL, and Robert Allen Sherrill of Chattanoog­a; daughters, Pamela (Dan) Buck of Palmetto, FL, and Kim (Patrick) Kaliher of Loganville, GA; brother, James Carroll Sherrill of Chattanoog­a; fifteen grandchild­ren, sixteen great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.
