Limited rosters spots open for Chattanooga vintage base ball clubs for 2017 season
The Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball is excited to announce a limited number of roster spots are available on both Chattanooga clubs - the Lightfoot Club of Chattanooga and the Mountain City Club of Chattanooga - for the upcoming 2017 season.
The TAOVBB plays by the rules, terminology and customs of 1864.
Registration is currently ongoing at the following web address: tennesseevintagebaseball. com/2017-chattanooga.
Players will be assigned to clubs based on available openings, geography, personal preference, and other factors. Payment must be received at the time of registration.
The registration fee is $100, which helps defray the association’s costs related to insurance and equipment. Players will also be responsible for providing their own uniforms, which averages around $150, but varies per club.
Each team will play 12 regular season match games between April and September, with three of the matches out of each team’s regular region. The Lightfoot Club and Mountain City Club plays its home matches at the polo fields at the 6th Calvary Museum in Fort Oglethorpe and at the Tennessee Riverpark in Chattanooga.
The complete 2017 schedule is available at the following web address: ennesseevintagebaseball.com/ schedule
Players will need to affirm the contents of the Ballist Manual and the Credo, which can be found at the following web address: tennesseevintagebaseball. com/wp-content/uploads/2017Ballists-Manual.pdf.
After payment is received, new players will be sent an e-mail for instructions on how to complete the registration process and be assigned to a team. For more information on the league and its mission, please see the TAOVBB’s website, at tennesseevintagebaseball. com
“We are always in need of volunteers,” said TAOVBB spokesman Tim “Meatball” Morgan” of the Franklin (Tenn.) Farriers. “We allocate roster spots as they become available to the folks who fill this need for us. If you do not get in on these limited available roster spots, the best way to be invited in the future is to come out and volunteer.”
The 2017 begins on April 2.
