- By Scott Herpst

There will be a marquee matchup right off the bat when the Class AAA state basketball playoffs begin this week.

The No. 4-ranked Ringgold Lady Tigers (21-6), who were relegated to the No. 3 seed from Region 6, will go on the road to face No. 5 Franklin County (20-6) after the Lady Lions were stunned, 57-37, by unranked Morgan County in the Region 8 championship game on Saturday.

After winning the Region 6 North title in the regular season, the Lady Tigers drew the No. 10-ranked Rebelettes in their region tournament semifinal game this past Friday night at Calhoun High School and led 32-29 going into the fourth quarter.

But Haralson County, who took out LFO in the quarterfinals, held the Blueand-White to just four points in the final period to pick up the win and avenge a regular season loss to Ringgold.

Kiwi Dale scored 15 for Ringgold, followed by Rachel Thomas with 12. Dare Schley had six points, seven rebounds and nine steals, while Karoline Sholl scored just two points, but grabbed eight boards and dished out six assists.
