- By Scott Herpst

The Ringgold Baseball Tigers enjoyed a long and successful weekend in Savannah as they opened the 2017 season with three wins in their first three games.

Facing their Class AAAAAA hosts, the Blue-and-White trailed 4-3 heading in to the top of the seventh when they exploded for six runs and went on to a season-opening 9-4 win.

Senior Hunter Ricketts took the mound in the fourth inning and threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, finishing with seven strikeouts. He also helped himself by going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Noah Parrish had the hot stick for the Tigers as he went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs. Included in that was a three-run homer. Tyler Nichols also went 3-for3 as Ringgold moved to 1-0 on the year.

“Hunter really stepped up for the team on the mound and at the plate,” head coach Brent Tucker said. “It was really good to see (from our team) this early in the season.”
