Aliene Watkins, 82, Chattanoog­a, Tenn.

Aliene Watkins, 82, of Chattanoog­a passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanoog­a and had attended Rossville High School.

She had worked as a nurse for many years at several local hospitals as well as the Hamilton County Sherriff’s Department.

Mrs. Watkins was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was attending Crosspoint­e Church in Ringgold. She enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and sang with the Uplifters. Mrs. Watkins loved the Lord and her passions in life were her family, church, and taking care of her animals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles LeRoy Watkins, Sr.; and her parents, R.E. and Essie Stafford.

Survivors include her son and daughterin-law, Charles LeRoy Watkins, Jr. and Michelle; granddaugh­ter, Summer Watkins; and her Pomeranian dog, “Baby”.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. at the South Crest Chapel

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:30p.m. at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Pastor Justin Perry officiatin­g.

Lois Broom Forester, 96, Rock Spring

Lois Broom Forester, 96, of Rock Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2017 in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Forester was born in Chattooga County Georgia on June 8, 1920 to the late Joseph M. and Nancy Naomi Broom and has resided in the Rock Spring area for several years.

She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She also loved teaching Sunday school and helping with the church’s A.W.A.N.A. program. She loved traveling with the senior group from her church and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

She was a homemaker and was a godly example to her children and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. and Nancy Naomi Atkins Broom, her husband Arthur Elbert Forester, brothers, Joe Broom, Hill Broom, sisters, Sally Hudson, Jessie Tittle, Mattie Mae Gilreath, & Boots Brown.

Survivors include her sons, Steven “Randy” (Sally) Forrester, Richard “Rick” Forester, daughter, Sarah Forester Richardson, grandchild­ren, Steven (Elizabeth) Forrester, Andrew Forrester, Alison Forrester (Davey) Smith, Susan Raines, Sharon Flowers, Kelsey Forester, Morgan Forester, nine greatgrand­children, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the South Crest Chapel

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor David Brown officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Rock Spring Cemetery.

Vickie Ann Koonce Williams, 75, LaFayette

Ms. Vickie Ann Koonce Williams, age 75, of LaFayette, GA, died, Monday February 20, 2017, at The Hospice of Chattanoog­a Care Center in Chattanoog­a, TN.

Ms. Williams was born February 16, 1941, in Berryton, GA, daughter of the late David and Ruth Nelson Koonce.

She was a member of the Berryton Church of God, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Allen “Little David” Koonce.

Ms. Williams is survived by her son, Scotty Williams; daughters, Tammy Cannon, Trina Williams, and Kelly Williams Scott; grandchild­ren, Chaz Hayes, Dustin Williams, Cortney Williams, Dima Cannon, Iger Cannon, Kristine Cannon, and Wendy Taylor; and 5 greatgrand­children.

Ms. Williams will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Thursday.

Funeral services for Ms. Williams will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Koonce officiatin­g.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Angel Armstrong, Phyllis Tucker, Peggy Tucker, Marzell Stewart, and the staff at Hospice of Chattanoog­a.

Martha Jane Fraser, 81, LaFayette

Martha Jane Fraser age 81, of LaFayette, Georgia entered her heavenly home Monday February 20, 2017 where she could hear again and was welcomed by The Saviour, her parents and sisters.

She was born in Chattanoog­a, TN to the late William Alvin and Frances Lucille Hankins Fraser. She had resided most of her life in Rossville, Georgia and was a former employee of Tradeco Industries in East Ridge, TN.

She was a member of Parkway Baptist Temple in Fort Oglethorpe, GA.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Gypsy Gale and Jo Ann Fraser.

She is survived by her sister: Wanda (Larry) Adkins of LaFayette, GA, nephews: Chris, Jason and Jeff (Lela) Bowman, great nephews: Tyler and Max Bowman, great niece: Zaelyn Bowman.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 pm 8:00 pm and Thursday morning prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am graveside at Rock Spring Cemetery Thursday February 23, 2017 with Reverend James Earl Helton officiatin­g.

Christophe­r “Butch” Adam Rowles, 51, LaFayette

Mr. Christophe­r “Butch” Adam Rowles, age 51, of LaFayette, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Walker County, Georgia from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Butch was born in Tacoma Park, Maryland on June 1, 1965, son of Dorothy Miller Rowles and the late William Jesse Rowles.

Butch was a graduate of Coosa High School and worked as a Job Superinten­dent building custom decks.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Rowles.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Rowles, Rome; his mother, Dorothy Rowles, Rome; two brothers, Stanley Rowles and Richard Rowles; three sisters, Rhonda Pyle, Christine Burton and Pandora Rowles; his fiancé, Melissa Howard and her children; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 5 until 7pm. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated following the visitation.

Edith Studdard, 92, LaFayette

Edith Studdard, age 92, of LaFayette passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O D Studdard; grandson, Cecil Ray Suddard, Jr.; parents, Thomas Sumner and Malinda Sumner; nine brothers and two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Mary Studdard.

Survivors are son, Cecil Ray Studdard, Sr. of Lyerly; daughter, Linda (Ronzie) Carroll, Sr. of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Tammey and Buddy Davis of Ringgold, Deedee and David McCormick of LaFayette, Kimmey and E.J. Jones of Ringgold, Patricia and Dennis Bolton of Lyerly, and Ronzie and Rena Carroll, Jr. of LaFayette; 11 great grandchild­ren; ten great-great grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.

Derek Kash Hancock, age 56, of LaFayette passed away Friday, February 17, 2017.

Derek was a member of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle of Noble and was employed with Syntec Industries in LaFayette for 23 years.

Preceded in death by his mothers, Betty Painter Fills and Beatrice Akins; grandmothe­r, Granny Leatha Painter; and half-brother, David Fills.

Survivors are his loving wife of 14 years, Kathy Reynolds Hancock; step-kids, Carrie (Josh) Bennett and Johnny (Jennifer) Scott; grandchild­ren, Alexia Scott, Justin Barnes, Seirra Bennett, and Gracie Bennett; great grandchild­ren, Emmi Smith, Audrey Smith, and Aidyn Barnes; mother and father-in-law, Buddy and Rosetta Reynolds; sister, Connie (Junior) Thomas; half-sisters, Sheila Long, Nioka Ridings, and E Jewel Griffin; and halfbrothe­rs, Wesley (Joy) Akins, Terry Akins, and Wayne Akins.

Baby Brayden Michael Harris, went to be in the arms of an angel on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothe­r, Tracy Michele Harris Trammel; great grandparen­ts, Joe and Nellie Jo Harris, and Denny Sprayberry; and great uncle, Michael Joe Harris.

Survived by parents, Michael Harris and Nicole Koken; sister, Makayla “K.K.” Koken; brother, Jaidon “Bubba” Joe Washington; grandparen­ts, Jason and Tammy Wilhoite and Wally Trammel; great grandparen­ts, Deborah Sprayberry, and Leslie “Pappy” Miller; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Hester Gaines McKaig, 95, of Rising Fawn, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017.

She was of the Methodist Faith.

Hester loved her family, cooking, crosswords, gardening, sewing and making beautiful quilts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil McKaig; parents, Lee Gaines and Leila and Walter Morton; siblings, Effie Williams, Betty Veal and Buck Gaines.

She is survived by her children, Marian (Bob) McKaig Thompson, Robert (Brenda) McKaig; grandchild­ren, Colin McKaig, Katie Hunter, Julie Duncan, Craig Thompson; several great grandchild­ren; nieces and nephews, Susan Palmer, Pam Crutchfiel­d, David Williams, Rodney Veal; several great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends, at the funeral home, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Friday.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Duncan officiatin­g.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Miracle Lighthouse Church of God for 25 years and she loved singing, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family.
