Colin Chavez Shropshire, 26, LaFayette

Mr. Colin Chavez Shropshire, age 26, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Sunday, Mar. 5, 2017.

He was a former employee of Mt. Vernon Mill and attended LaFayette High School where he was on the basketball team.

He was preceded in death by his greatgrand­parents, Johnny and Annie Allgood and George and Katherine Shropshire.

Survivors include: his parents, father, Adrian (Amanda) Shropshire of Chickamaug­a, Ga., mother, Stephanie Earlene Chambers of LaFayette, Ga.; one sister, Shelby Shropshire Arden of Chickamaug­a; two brothers, Tyler Shropshire and Dillon Shropshire of LaFayette; paternal grandparen­ts, Johnetta (Odell) McSears; grandparen­ts, Vernon Shropshire; maternal grandparen­ts, Gwen Chambers of LaFayette, Earl (Angie) Chambers of Calhoun; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Saturday after 11 a.m. and at Mount Zion Baptist Church on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The Service of Memory will be held on Sunday, Mar. 12, at 5 p. m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dunwoody Road, LaFayette, Ga. with Minister Dwayne Stamper, Pastor Rheubin Taylor and other minister officiatin­g.

Annie Mae Broadrick, 85, LaFayette

Annie Mae Broadrick, age 85, of LaFayette passed away Friday, March 3, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Broadrick; son, Kenneth Broadrick; grandsons, Mark Harris and James Snyder; parents, Samuel Sweet and Helen Baker Sweet; and son-in-law, Milford Snyder.

Survivors are her daughters, Helen Snyder of Chickamaug­a, Brenda Broadrick of Chatsworth, and Wanda (Mike) Cates of LaFayette; sons, Charles (Maryann) Broadrick and Roger Broadrick both of Lylerly; 15 grandchild­ren; several great grandchild­ren and several great-great grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation at the funeral home Sunday from 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Funeral service Monday, March 6 at 4 p.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Malcolm Harris officiatin­g.

Interment in Crest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor W.C. Pence officiatin­g.

Jeanette Almand Baker

Jeanette Almand Baker passed away March 3, 2017.

She was born in Newton County Georgia and lived in LaFayette Georgia for the past seventy-two years.

She received degrees in Education from Georgia State College for Women and the University of Georgia.

She was a longtime member of LaFayette First United Methodist Church and the LaFayette Women’s Club.

Mrs. Baker enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She volunteere­d at nursing homes and visited those in need for many years. Her kind, loving spirit and positive outlook brightened the days of all who knew her!

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul W. Baker Jr., and son Lewis Jeffrey Baker.

She is survived by her children, Jana Baker McCann and husband John, Paul Washington Baker III and wife Carole, and Susan Baker Coker and husband Dale; seven grandchild­ren, Warren Rhodes Hall Jr. and wife Mace, Christophe­r Baker Hall and wife Sharena, Lee Martin Hall, Paul Washington Baker IV, Courtney Suzanne Baker, Laura Coker Greene and husband Brent, and Scott Jeffrey Coker and wife Janna; greatgrand­children, Rhodes Huckabee Hall, Randall Georgia Hall, Adams Baker Hall, Ramey Kate Hall, Warren Baker Hall, William Taylor Baker, Robert Benjamin Baker, James David Baker, Guner Conway Henderson, Eli Davis Greene, and Aubrey Lane Greene; loving caregivers, Troy Cornett, Rosie Hagwood, and Cassandra Sampley; special family friend Edith Hartline.

The family is thankful for the very caring staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Certified Nursing Assistant Tina and Nurse Mindi.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 5, from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 6 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church in LaFayette. Rev. David Autry and Rev. Randall Massengill will officiate.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are grandsons and greatgrand­sons.

Charles Melvin Garrett, age 56, of LaFayette passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Garrett and Barbara Hall Garrett; sister, Reta Peace; and nephew, Jacob Peace.

Survivors are his loving wife of 35 years, Melanie Garrett; daughters, Chasity (Alan) Ballard and Shasta (Joe) Meloche all of LaFayette; beloved pet, Dollar; brothers, Benny (Carole) Garrett, Gene (Stacey) Garrett, Ray (Leona) Garrett, and Stephen (Brandy) Garrett; sister, Alvie (Kevin) Murray; grandchild­ren, Makenna Meloche, Addison Meloche, Bryton Ballard, and Benson Meloche; and several nieces and nephews.

Gail Dannie Morgan, age 67, of LaFayette passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Cooper and Betty Odom Johns.

Survivors are her loving husband of 43 years, Stanley Morgan; special nephew, Robert (Wendy) Collette of Summervill­e; niece, Eisa Collette of Trion; great nephew, Braxton Sanford; several more nieces and nephews; great niece, Lilly Keith; and sister, Jina Nichols of Summervill­e.

Dennis Terrell Oliver, age 68, of Chickamaug­a passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Dennis had a love for golf. He was an avid sportsman and hunter and was a master at turkey calling.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Oliver; and brother, Bruce W. Oliver.

Survivors are his loving wife of 49 years, Pat Oliver; sons, Marty (Dena) Oliver and Keith (Dede) Oliver all of LaFayette; mother, Hazel Louise Oliver; sister, Kim (Jim) Wright of Chattanoog­a; brother, Kenneth (Gayle) Oliver of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Amanda, Josh, Matthew, Zachary, Lauren, Seacret, Desiree, Harley, Fancy, and Destiny; nine great grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

Anne G. Hammontree, age 82, of LaFayette passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.

She was born in LaFayette on April 17, 1934 to the late Oliver Gladden and Maude Gladden.

Anne was a loving wife and mother and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judson L. Hammontree; and brother, Max Gladden.

Survivors are her daughters, Marsha (Bart) Carter and Jennifer (Dewayne) Hardin all of Chickamaug­a; two grandchild­ren, Cole Hardin and Wyatt Hardin of Chickamaug­a; sister, Helen Gladden of LaFayette; and several nieces and nephews. Geraldine Goodson Stansell, 90, of LaFayette passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.

A native of LaFayette, she was born on July 21, 1926 to the late Leonard Goodson and Annie Wood Baker.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of LaFayette and a member of the LaFayette Optimist Club.

She enjoyed living retired on her farm with her birds and animals.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carlton Stansell.

Survivors are daughters, Claudia Greene and Iris Tracy; four grandchild­ren, Kellie Kanipe; Mendy Short, Chad Tracy, and Clay Tracy; seven great grandchild­ren, Samantha Short, Hunter Short, Lauren Kanipe, Rhett Kanipe, Clint

Tracy, Brennan Tracy, and Jax Tracy; and stepbrothe­r, Don Goodson.

Jean Annette Sheehan passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 86.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Sheehan; her parents, Frank and Mary Webster, and her brother, William Webster.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Becky) Sheehan; daughters,

Linda Green Hixon, 66, Ringgold

Linda Green Hixon, 66 of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born March 31, 1950 to the late William Bill Green and Martha Lou Land Green. She was a life-long resident of Ringgold and a member of Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle after being a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church for most of

her life. Linda was a life-long singer having sung in the church choir and various groups throughout the years. She particular­ly enjoyed singing with her sisters and other family members. Linda was very active in various church roles, including teaching Sunday School and working in Vacation Bible Schools.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn James, Ronnie Green and Ralph Green.

Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, James Lamar Hixon; children, Dr. Mickey Parsons, Atlanta, Tera Roberts, Ringgold, Jason Hixon, Acworth, and Anthony Hixon, Gainesvill­e, GA; brother, Doug Green, Tunnel Hill; sisters, Joyce Bryson, Betty Rivers, Judy Babb and Jewel Silvey, all of Ringgold;

grandchild­ren, Hannah Roberts, Ringgold, Howie Hixon, Acworth, and Marlee Hixon, Acworth.

The family will receive friends 2-8 PM Sunday and 11-1 PM Monday at Heritage Funeral Home

Funeral services will be 3 PM Monday

at Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor Jerry Atkins and Bro. Wendal Babb officiatin­g.
