Ringgold moves up to No. 3 in Class AAA poll

The Ringgold Tigers closed out the nonregion portion of their schedule last week, winning at Fort Payne, Ala. before seeing a four-game winning streak snapped back in Georgia in nearby Chickamaug­a.

Ringgold 8, Fort Payne 3

Last Monday, the Tigers trekked west to Alabama and handed the Wildcats a loss.

Noah Parrish went 2-for-4 with a home run and drove in three runs in the win. Gavin Hollis was 2-for-3 and Rhett Baldwin had a hit and knocked in two.

Gordon Lee 5, Ringgold 3

The Trojans led 4-0 after the first three innings and held on for a home win over the Tigers in a nonregion game this past Thursday.

Both teams had just three hits. McDaniel homered for Gordon Lee. Rogers doubled and Clark had a single.

Rhett Baldwin had a two-run homer for Ringgold. Hunter Ricketts doubled and Holden Tucker singled, while Daulton Schley picked up an RBI.

Mason Pettigrew threw three innings to get the win for Gordon Lee, while Cole Tarvin worked the last 2.2 innings to get the save. Tucker took the loss for the Tigers after pitching three innings.

Ringgold (9-3) will dive into region play with both feet this week, starting with a home game against No. 10 Calhoun on Tuesday at 5:55 pm.

The Tigers will head up Battlefiel­d Parkway on Thursday for a 5:55 contest against resurgent LFO before returning home on Friday to take on Adairsvill­e at 5:55.

The Tigers also climbed up the No. 3 in the ScoreAtl.com Class AAA baseball state poll this past week.
