- By Robert Magobet

There is still time for the LFO Warriors to get back in the Region 6-AAA playoff hunt, and performances like the one they turned in last Tuesday will help them get there.

Facing a Murray County team that came into the matchup sitting in the fourth and final state playoff spot when the night began, LFO scored jumped all over the Indians with five runs in the top of the first and rode the pitching of Logan Gruetter to a 7-0 shutout win in Chatsworth.

Gruetter walked six, but gave up just two hits as he kept the Indians off the board in all seven innings. He also added a double at the plate and drove in a team-high three runs.

Jarrett McAfee had a home run and two RBIs. Jake Bass and Brice Donnahoo had two hits apiece, while Garren Mauldin and Andrew Brock had one RBI each.

LFO 5, Bremen 4

The Warriors survived the Blue Devils and won their tenth game of the season at home on Thursday.

Ten hits from the Warriors kept Bremen at arm’s length. Brock went 2-for-3, Gruetter went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Donnahoo went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Maulding, the LFO starter, gave up just one earned run in five innings pitched. Mathew Trusley came in to relieve and gave up three earned runs.

Bremen’s Bret Barrow hit 2-for-3 and knocked in a run, while Sam Thompson went 1-for-4 with four RBIs. The Blue Devils collected eight hits on the night.

Adairsville 6, LFO 4

The weren’t able to overcome the Tigers in a seesaw type of baseball game on Friday night at Adairsville High School.

The Warriors (10-10, 3-6) jumped out in front, 1-0, in the region contest thanks to Brock stroking a hit on a favorable 2-1 count in the first inning.

After the Tigers answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first, the Warriors retook the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third inning.

Adairsville (6-12, 3-6) regrouped and tied the game when Justin Green grounded out to bring in a run. Taylor Whitley followed up with a shot resulting in a triple and an RBI off Brock – LFO’s starter – which would allow the Tigers to take the lead for good.

Whitley’s good day then burgeoned into a great day after a double jump-started what would be a threerun sixth inning. He went 3-for-4 with three

RBIs and accounted for nearly half of the Tigers’ seven hits on the day.

The Warriors finished with six hits and made things interesting by scoring two in the top of the seventh before Adairsville reliever Caden Gibbs could finally slam the door on the comeback attempt.

Gibbs threw twothirds of an inning to get

the save. Sam Seaman started the game and struck out nine, while giving up four runs in six innings to earn the win. Brock took the loss as he struck out four and surrendered three earned runs.

Brock also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Donnahoo went 2-for4 and Gruetter was able to go 1-for-3 and contributed an RBI.

Next up for the Warriors will be a trip to Calhoun to face the Jackets on April 4.
