Mary Ann Perry, 55, Chickamaug­a

Mary Ann Perry, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 55.

Mary was extremely active in her community, she became a member of Walker County CERT in 2005, served as president of CERT from 2008 to present. Mary was a member of Walker County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy in 2012. Mary was also active in the Red Cross and was known for various other volunteer activities.

She is preceded in death by her child, Katie Rae Cline; her parents Clarence and Marie Jefferies and siblings, Joe Jefferies and Doris Wolford.

Survivors include: her husband, Johnny Perry and two children, her devoted daughter Robbi L. Cline and her son Dustin Johnson; two grandchild­ren, Heidi Jo and Marley Johnson; her siblings, Patsy Bruce, Marjorie Powell, Brenda Dickson and two brothers, Dan and Terry Jefferies.

It must be mentioned that Mary had several wonderful friends that meant so much to her. Many thanks to Jody Payne, Nadine Gilliland, David Ashburn and the Carroll Family. Finally, the family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanoog­a for the care given to Mary during her illness.

Chadwick “Chad” Byron Stone, 48, Old Fort, Tenn.

Chadwick “Chad” Byron Stone, of Old Fort, Tenn., passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was 48.

A native of Ringgold, Ga., he lived in the Old Fort area since 1999.

He was a former employee of Cleveland Tire and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Byron Stone and brother, Anthony “Tony” Stone.

Survivors include: his ex-wife and best friend, Linda Stone of Cleveland, Tenn.; two daughters, Rena Stone of Old Fort, Tenn. and Casey Stone of Cleveland, Tenn.; mother, Joyce Johnson Gresham of Bryant, Ala.; sister, Joy Howard of Old Fort, Tenn.; four grandchild­ren; one niece.

Visitation: Tuesday from 12-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Tuesday, April 4, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Chambers officiatin­g.

Burial: Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gwendolyn Faye Groves Amberson, 58, Chickamaug­a

Gwendolyn Faye Groves Amberson, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., went home to be with her Lord Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was 58.

She was a lifelong resident of Chickamaug­a and a member of Pathway Baptist Church.

Gwen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Cleo Groves.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 29 years, Jimmy Amberson; son, Robby (Sissy Sharp) Groves of Chickamaug­a; mother, Betty Groves of Chickamaug­a; stepson, James Amberson of Ariz.; siblings, Gail Bagdonas of Signal Mtn. and Greg Groves of Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Funeral service: Wednesday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Mark Smith officiatin­g.

Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens-South.

Carolyn Sue Eaker Sosebee, 73, Trion

Carolyn Sue Eaker Sosebee, of Trion, Ga., passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at her residence. She was 73.

A lifelong resident of the Trion, LaFayette area she was a former employee of Imperial Cup where she worked for 15 years, a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and a member of the Dade County Square Dancers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Chatman and Myrtle Lula Lowrance Eaker; sister, Doris Ledbetter White and brother, Allen Eaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Allen M. Sosebee of Trion, Ga.; daughter, Barry “Lynn” (David) Schlageter of Gruetli Laager, Tenn.; son, Timothy A. Sosebee of Trion, Ga.; two sisters, June Fowler and Darnell (Jerry) Osburn both of LaFayette, Ga.; former son-inlaw, Eugene Ingram of LaFayette, Ga.; granddaugh­ter, Angel (Jason) Kendrick; two great-grandchild­ren, Jase Kendrick and Bryson Sosebee; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Skates officiatin­g.

Robert Wayne Dunn, 81, Ringgold

Robert Wayne Dunn, of Ringgold, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was 81.

He lived in the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.

He retired from Chattanoog­a Boiler & Tank after more than 35 years of service as a Maintenanc­e Mechanic and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Etta Inez Dunn; wife, Helen Dunn; daughter, Wanda Jean McGowan and grandson, Jimmy McGowan.

Survivors include: his son, Michael Dewayne Dunn of Ringgold, Ga.; three grandchild­ren and one great-grandson.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Graveside service: Tuesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. in the TennesseeG­eorgia Memorial Park.

Stella E. Hicks, 72, Tunnel Hill

Stella E. Hicks, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was 72.

She was a member of Rocky Face Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle E. Hicks Jr.; parents, Ronald and Mary Amerson; one sister and three brothers.

Survivors include: her daughters, Marian Vogel, Kaye Hardy, Pamela (Ronnie) Hyatt, Joanna Kicklighte­r, Elizabeth (Matt) Baxter; brother, David (Reba) Amerson; grandchild­ren, Erica, Holly, Nicole, J.B., Miranda, Leandra, Kyle, Avery, Titus and Dylen; 14 great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

Malcolm Clayton Crowder, 84, Chickamaug­a

Malcolm Clayton Crowder, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He was 84.

He was a lifelong resident of Chickamaug­a, was a longtime member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church and has been attending Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in recent years.

Malcolm served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the owner/ operator of Crowder Supply in Chickamaug­a, along with his brother for over 37 yrs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee and Bessie Alice Fitts Crowder; his sister, Mattie Lowe Taylor and grandson, Robert Clayton Clemons.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 63 years, Juanita Childers Crowder; children, Laura Ann (Dick) Clemons and Clay Malcolm (Denise) Crowder; brother, Chester Ray Crowder; five grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and prior to the service on Friday.

Funeral service: Friday, April 7, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Elder Wayne Peters officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with military honors.

Mark Alan Nickel, 53, Rossville

Mark Alan Nickel, of Rossville, Ga., passed away April 1, 2017. He was 53.

Mark was employed as a tile setter with Stone Source and was known as “Tile Man.”

He attended Berean Bible Fellowship, enjoyed four-wheeling, camping, cooking, music and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Lee Nickel and his wife, Tiffany Nickel.

Survivors include; his daughters, Amanda Nickel, Samantha (Mike) Dennis and Nevaeh Nickel; step-daughter, Destiny Massey; stepson, Jadon Snyder; granddaugh­ter, Halley Nickel; parents, Nancy and Jack Lockhart; brother, Dale A. (Becky) Nickel; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Saturday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel.

Mary Ruth Williams, 79, Rossville

Mary Ruth Williams, of Rossville, Ga., went home to be with her Lord Friday, March 31, 2017, in a local hospital. She was 79.

A native of Lawrencebu­rg, Tenn., she lived the greater part of her life in the north Georgia area and the last fourteen years in Seviervill­e, Tenn.

Mrs. Williams was a former member of Cooper Heights Church of God in Chickamaug­a and was currently a member of Parkway Church of God in Seviervill­e.

She retired from the Walker County School System following 20 years of service and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and mentoring with the youth.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Howard and Ora Mae Franklin; husband,

Odell Williams; sisters, Wilma Short and Barbara Clark and brother, Paul Franklin.

Survivors include: her daughters, Donna (Carroll) Allen and Mona Faye Campbell; sons, Nathan (Johanna) and Scott (Ashley) Williams; 14 grandchild­ren and seven greatgrand­children; brothers, Lelan and Leman Franklin; sisters, Arthieal Todd, Syble Stephenson and Ressie Smith; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday, April 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel.

Funeral service: Friday, April 7, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Carroll Allen and Rev. Kenneth Oliver officiatin­g.

Jones; great-grandson, Hunter Chase; greatgreat grandchild­ren, Lola, Claire and Olivia Jones and Jada Kendrick; sister, Betty Odell; brothers, Jim Page, Freeman Page and D.L. Page.
