Legendary Run at Ringgold Elementary School

-

On March 22, 2017, Ringgold Elementary School students and staff participated in their first Apex Fun Run, which served as a fundraiser for school improvement needs.

Over the previous week, students were asked to obtain pledges or donations. However, everyone had the chance to run, even if they didn’t raise any money.

APEX staff members visited each classroom daily, sharing motivational information to build character and leadership in students.

This year’s theme was Legendary Leaders. Through this program, APEX workers Mega Megan and Boomin Boon encouraged students to empower and encourage others, give back to help others in need, and to never give up. Challenges were given each day to encourage increased support and provide students some awesome rewards, such as dodge ball games, pizza parties, and popsicles.

The children’s favorite challenge was to increase pledges over a weekend by $100 per lap. RES students and their families rallied and the challenge was met. As a reward, students watched their principals, Kim Erwin and Braden Moreland, get slimed. It was great fun for all and raised much-needed dollars for the school to help with curriculum resources and supports, as well as other supplies and materials teachers need.

As always, the RES family came through in grand style, raising over $8,000 for our school! The RES staff extends a legendary “Thank you!” to our community for their continued support! Additionally, special thanks to Shane Catlett with Modern Woodmen of America for his generous $350 donation to the cause!
