Final Four

-

Starting pitcher Alex Barbee then threw a wild pitch, enabling the Titans to get within just one run. Weidner then turned his hips and stroked an RBI single, tying the game at four.

The winning play came in the top of the seventh when Colin Davis scorched a tworun double, cementing a 6-4 final score. This play put the Titans in the championship against Marist next week.

Dunn, Smith and Weidner all had two hits each for the Titans, contributing to the team’s total of 10 hits. Starting pitcher Patrick McNamara struck out five and gave up three runs in four innings.

For the Navy-and-

Red, Lance Dockery had a 3-for-4 day, helping the Generals accumulate nine hits overall. Barbee struck out three and allowed six earned runs in a complete game.

Titans’ coach Andy Harlin said the Generals, though, were an incredible opponent.

“That’s a great team, and we knew that going in,” Harlin said. “We knew they are very well coached. The pitching is as good a pitching we’ve seen all year. Wilcox has an unbelievable, talented arm, but crazy stuff happens in baseball. Hitting one through nine, we knew they could all hit. It’s an athletic team that can run and play defense. We knew it was going to be a great team. When you get in the final four you are going to face good team.”
