The 2017 Kiwanis Club of Fort Oglethorpe hosted the 10th annual Distinguished Service Award May 3 at the Walker County Civic Center. Mary Carpenter with First Volunteer Bank was the Catoosa County honoree. The Gilbert family and The Bank of LaFayette was honored for Walker County. Rachel Oesch Willeford was the event emcee, with Park Place Restaurant catering the luncheon. Over $1,500 was raised by the silent auction to benefit LaFayette Empty Stocking Fund and the Performance Learning Center.
