CLASSES · Today is the last day to register for the

Journeyman Farmer Certificat­e Program

being offered in Walker County by

UGA Extension Service.

This new program provides comprehens­ive training for beginning farmers and will be held at the

Walker County Ag. Center in Rock Spring.

The full certificat­e program is a three-step training process. The three steps include: small farm business classes, small ruminant production workshops and handson mentorship. The

first training session

will be twoday event, Aug. 29-30.

The cost to attend the program is $50 which includes course materials and lunch. Spaces are limited and all participan­ts must register no later than Aug. 22 at https://t.uga. edu/305.

Friday night hikes at Cloudland Canyon State Park

are 2-mile walks on one of the park’s best trails. Participan­ts will learn interestin­g facts about the geology and history of the canyon. By the end of the hike, hikers will be in the dark,

enjoying the trail by moonlight

and listening for night sounds.

Ages 10 and older. Reservatio­ns Required.

Snacks and water will be available for you take with you on the hike and headlamps will be provided. Please bring a small pack to carry your items. Trekking poles or a walking stick are helpful as well.
