Reeve returns to Chattanooga to help with wrestling team SRMS
Former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling coach Ethan Reeve is returning to UTC to serve as the at the Mocs volunteer coach.
Reeve won five Southern Conference titles in his six years as head coach from 19851990. In addition, he posted a 57-38-2 (.598) record, leaving with the third most wins in school history.
“Coach Reeve brings tradition, wisdom, and intensity to our program,” stated Mocs head coach Heath Eslinger. “He has been a part of the UTC wrestling family and he is passionate about seeing this program succeed.”
Reeve spent the last 16 seasons at Wake Forest, guiding the Demon Deacons’ Strength and Athletic Development program. Prior to that, he spent six years at Ohio University in Strength and Conditioning.
Reeve is certified through USA Weightlifting, Russian Kettlebell Challenge and is a Master Strength Coach through the National Collegiate Strength Coaches Association.
He was the strength coach for the women’s US Rowing team that won four gold medals and one silver in the 1995 World Championships. Ethan was the first director of strength and conditioning at McCallie School in Chattanooga from 1990-1995 where he helped co-coach four state tournament and dual meet championship wrestling teams.
He returned to Ohio in 1995 to become the first director of strength and conditioning, working closely with the football program. He also designed and oversaw the construction of the Carin Center, Ohio’s athletic strength and conditioning facility.
Reeve was a two-time NCAA AllAmerican and four-time SEC champion wrestler at the University of Tennessee. He began his coaching career at his alma mater serving as assistant wrestling coach/strength coach for wrestling for two years.
Reeve and his wife, Susan, have three children, Callie, Erin and Keaton. McClain picked up an ace. Boulware had a kill and a dig and Cramer collected three digs.
Lemons had nine aces and three kills, while Segarra had 10 aces and a kill in the Lady Mustangs’ 25-12, 25-21 win in the JV match.
Johnson finished with three aces and three kills. Bailey had two kills and an assist, while Lambitz recorded two aces. Sayers and Yancy had one kill apiece. Hambrick and Cecelia Davenport each had a dig. Helton chipped in with an assist and a dig, while Skye Scott recorded one assist.
Individual statistics for Chattanooga Valley were not provided as of press time.
Saddle Ridge will play at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Lakeview, while Chattanooga Valley will travel down Highway 27 to south Walker County to square off with LaFayette that same day. The match will begin at 4:30.
The Georgia Northwestern Lady Bobcats’ basketball team will hold official tryouts on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Rossville Athletic Center (301 Williams Street), while the Bobcats men’s team will hold tryouts on Aug. 28 and Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the R.A.C.

The Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball, played by 1864 rules at the historic polo field in Fort Oglethorpe, will wrap up its 2017 regular season this Saturday. A doubleheader will begin at 12 noon with the Lightfoot Club of Chattanooga taking on the Travellers Club of Brentwood. At 2:30 p.m., the Mountain City Club will face the Stewart’s Creek Scouts.

North Georgia Healthcare Golf Tournament
The 2017 North Georgia Healthcare Center Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Windstone Golf Club.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1.

Cleveland State baseball tournaments
Cleveland State Community College will host three fall baseball tournaments at the college for 18-U high school and select teams.
The Early Bird tournament for 18-U and select teams will be held on Aug. 26-27. Teams must enter by Aug. 19 and the tournament is limited to eight teams. Each team will play four pool games and the entry fee is $475 plus a dozen new baseballs.

Ringgold fall baseball camp
The 2017 Ringgold Fall Baseball Camp, for kids ages kindergarten through eighth grade, will be held each Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the month of September, starting on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Hitting will be taught on Tuesdays and pitching and defense will be the focuses on Wednesdays. The camp will be held each night from 6-8 p.m.
The cost will be $80, which covers all eight days of camp. Pre-registration is not necessary. Campers are asked to arrive at 5:30 on Sept. 5.

Battle at the Battlefield golf tournament
The 10th Annual Battle at the Battlefield Golf Tournament, pitting LFO and Ringgold, will be held Sept. 26 at the Battlefield Golf Club at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $100 per player.
