Close games highlight Lady Tigers’ week

The Region 6-AAAA tournament is slated to begin on Tuesday of this week and the Ringgold Lady Tigers will open with a best-of-three series at Bremen.

Ringgold got two big wins on Monday and followed up with a win over Coahulla Creek on Tuesday. But 24 hours, they lost at Coahulla Creek in a make-up game and went into Monday’s regular season finale at Murray County with a 4-3 record in 6-AAA North.

Due to newspaper publishing deadlines, results of that game were unavailable as of press time.

Ringgold 7, Haralson County 6

The Blue-and-White used a solo run in the bottom of the sixth to claim a win in a region crossover game Monday afternoon at Hazel Brown Field.

The Lady Rebels led 5-1 going into the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Tigers took the lead with a five-spot. Haralson tied things up with a solo run in the top of the sixth, only to see Ringgold retake the lead for good a halfinning later.

Kaylee Womack was 3-for-3 with a walk. Cole had a pair of doubles in four at-bats, while Carolyn Hemphill and Brooklyn Keith had two hits apiece. Kaylee Phillips got the win in the circle.

Ringgold 5, LFO 4

In the nightcap of Monday’s three-team doubleheader, the Lady Tigers rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit and a 4-2 fifth-inning hole to tie the game in the sixth on RBI-singles from Hemphill and Phillips.

Both teams missed chances to score in the seventh, but Ringgold would come through in the bottom of the eighth as a one-out double by Phillips and a single by Grace Morrison set the table for Bailey Farrow, who sent a chopper into centerfield past a drawn-in infield to win the game.

Phillips gave up four earned runs on 11 hits and a walk for the Lady Tigers. She finished with one strikeout.

Ringgold 5, Coahulla Creek 4

On Tuesday, back in Ringgold, Phillips picked up the win with a complete game victory. She allowed 13 hits, but just three earned runs. She finished with two strikeouts.

Jade Gainer was 2-for-3 for Ringgold. Cole and Brooklyn Keith each had a key double and two RBIs, while Farrow and Kaylee Womack had the other two hits for the Lady Tigers.

Coahulla Creek 2, Ringgold 1

The Lady Tigers lost a rematch at Coahulla Creek on Wednesday. Ringgold scored once in the top of the first inning, but it would be the only run the Blueand-White would get.

The Lady Colts pushed home the tying run in the bottom of the fifth and scored the game-winner in the seventh.

Cole went 2-for-3, while Morrison had a triple for Ringgold, who began the week 10-12 overall and 4-3 in subregion play.
