- By Adam Cook

A Catoosa County man was arrested after he allegedly went to a Rossville residence in a jealous rage and began firing shots while threatening a man, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department:

Kurt Douglas Swanson, 37, of 2221 Swanson Road in Rossville, was arrested Oct. 14 on three counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, DUI, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime, and three counts of second-degree criminal damage to property.

Swanson has since been released from jail on bond.

Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Steele Road in Rossville just before 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, regarding a vehicle accident with shots fired.

Deputy Aaron Thomas arrived to find Swanson standing out in the road with his hands up, reports show.

“Mr. Swanson stated he was the person that ran his truck into the house and fired three shots,” Deputy Thomas said. “I observed a silver revolver on the roadway to the offender’s left.”

Swanson was placed under arrest and went on to explain what brought him to this residence with a gun in hand.

Swanson claimed he found out the male living at the residence had recently been sleeping with his wife, so he drove to the house and rammed his truck into the back of the victim’s truck several times.

Swanson said he fired three shots from his .32-caliber pistol.

“He stated he fired one into the victim’s truck, one toward the house which struck the electric meter, and then one in the ground,” Thomas said.

The male victim, who was the subject of Swanson’s rage, says he was asleep inside when he heard the crash. He also said he could hear Swanson screaming obscenities and threats, and that he heard the shots fired while he was on the phone with 911.

During the discussion, Swanson admitted that he’d been drinking before he arrived.

“I asked him how much he had to drink, and he stated ‘a few shots’,” Thomas said.
