- By Adam Cook

Catoosa County detectives are investigating a theft case in which approximately $15,000 worth of memorabilia was stolen from a storage unit off U.S. Highway 41 in Ringgold, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department, the incident was reported on Oct. 14, but the victim isn’t certain exactly when the theft occurred.

The victim told police he arrived at the unit to find that his lock had been removed and replaced by another. After the new lock was removed, the victim realized several items had been taken from within the unit.

“He stated he was missing several hundred Star Trek collectable toys, ships, and vintage action figures valued at approximately $10,000,” Deputy Aaron Thomas said. “Also missing were several collectable swords and knives valued at approximately $5,000.”

To complicate the investigation further, the victim said he hadn’t visited the unit in approximately three months, so he could not give an exact time of when the items might have been stolen.

Detectives are working with the storage unit management staff to secure possible video footage from around the units.

Anyone with information about the burglary or the missing items is encouraged to contact detective Timothy Busby at the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department at 706-935-2424.
