“A Night to Honor Israel” set for Nov. 9

Christians United for Israel (CUFI), along with churches in North Georgia and the Greater Chattanoog­a area, invites the community to a “Night to Honor Israel” on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, in Ringgold, Georgia 30736.

The purpose of this event is to show solidarity between Jewish people and Christians in their support of Israel. The event is open to the public. There is no cost to attend. A compliment­ary reception will follow the event. All people are welcome regardless of religion or denominati­on.

The keynote speakers are Pastor Matthew Hagee and Maj. Elliot Chodoff.

Pastor Matthew Hagee serves as the executive pastor of the 20,000 member Cornerston­e Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he ministers with his father, founder Pastor John Hagee. Pastor Matt Hagee is an accomplish­ed vocalist and founder of the Dove-Award winning gospel quartet, Canton Junction. His teachings and faithbased talk shows, “The Difference” and “Hagee Hotline,” are telecast throughout the world on radio, television and GETV.org. Additional­ly his publicatio­ns include an August 2017 book release titled “Your Guide to the Apocalypse.”

Maj. Elliot Chodoff is a political and military analyst specializi­ng in Middle East conflict and the global war on terrorists, and a major in the IDF reserves. He presently serves as the deputy chief of staff for Population for the Northern Region of Israel, in Home Front Command. He served on active duty in the North for five weeks during the 2006 Lebanon War In the summer of 2005 he served in Gush Katif during the Gaza Disengagem­ent. And in 2004 he was a member of the rescue team in the aftermath of the bombing of the Taba Hilton. Elliot is an expert in infantry weapons and tactics, and teaches courses in field craft and small unit tactics.

Local participat­ion includes musical presentati­ons by the Lee University Lee Singers conducted by Dr. Brad Moffett. Vocalists will include Pastor Matthew Hagee and Sandy Hagee Parker. The ROTC from Ringgold High School will act as the Color Guard. Scouts from the Cherokee Area Council Boy Scouts of America will serve as parking attendants and ushers.

The Christian and Jewish communitie­s have been working together for five years and will be represente­d by local pastors, the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanoog­a and CUFI City Directors. Pastor Lyndon Allen, CUFI central regional coordinato­r, will blow the shofar. Participat­ing community members include: Rabbi Susan Tendler, B’nai Zion Congregati­on, Chattanoog­a; Michael Dzik, executive director Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanoog­a; and Chen Dahon, Israeli cultural emissary with the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanoog­a. Pastor Bret Yaeger, Temple Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

Christians United for Israel (CUFI) is the largest pro-Israel organizati­on in the United States with over 3.5 million members and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world.
