Randy Alan Hopkins, 48, LaFayette, Ga.

Randy Alan Hopkins age 48, of LaFayette, GA passed away Monday – January 1, 2018.

He was born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Walter Jack and Peggy Elaine Adams Hopkins. He attended LaFayette High School – Class of 1987. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard. He was a former employee of Blue Bird Bus Company in LaFayette, GA and Audia Plastics of LaFayette, GA. He was a former Fire Fighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Bull Rider and Rodeo Clown. He enjoyed riding motorcross growing up and later riding his Harley-Davidson. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Kevin Hopkins and uncle: Frank Hopkins.

He is survived by his children: Matthew (Christy) Hopkins, Amy Hopkins all of Fairview, GA, Ashley (fiance’ Kaleb Graham) Hopkins of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, sister: Jennifer (Jacob) Lawrence of LaFayette, GA, uncle: Albert Hopkins of Kensington, GA, longtime friend: Jeff Lancaster of LaFayette, GA, grandchild­ren: Ely, Kysen, Benson, Brinnleigh, Kynlee, Mayson and Samuel, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Graveside services: 1:00 pm – Friday – January 5, 2018 at Chattanoog­a National Veterans Cemetery – Chattanoog­a, Tennessee with Jeremy Neal officiatin­g.

Cora “Mae” Cannon Narmore, 90, LaFayette, Ga.

Cora “Mae” Cannon Narmore age 90, of LaFayette, GA went home to be with The Lord Sunday – December 31, 2017.

She was born in Walker County, GA to the late Claude W. and Annie Mae Cannon, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Walker County and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister and friend who will be truly missed. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially taking care of her grandchild­ren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband: James Albert Narmore, Sr., son: Benny F. DeBord and brother: Claude William “Junior” Cannon, Jr.

Mae is survived by her loving children: George W. DeBord, James Albert (Ruby) Narmore, Jr., Candace N. (Ricky) Archer all of LaFayette, GA, several grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children, greatgreat-grandchild­ren and a nephew.

Cathy Ailene Goff, 66, Rossville, Ga.

Cathy Ailene Goff, 66 of Rossville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1, 2018.

She had lived in the Chattanoog­a & North Georgia areas for most of her life and was of the Christian faith. She was previously employed with Honest Charley’s as Office Manager for several years and was a loving and devoted, sister, wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Catherine Brogdon; husband, Harold Goff and son, Adam Burrow.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Meleisa & Chris Kenny; brother & sister-in-law, William “Billy” & Susan Brogdon all of Rossville, GA; 4 grandchild­ren, Amber Kenny, Austin Kenny, Dylan Burrow and Dustin Burrow; great grandchild, McKinley Granger and numerous extended family & friends.

Rita Ann Norman, 75 of Rossville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1, 2018.

She was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was a member of Temple Baptist Church since 1978. She was previously employed with Rossville Middle School for several years and enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning her own vegetables. She was a loving, devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tillie & L.D. Parks and two sons, Robert Norman, Jr. and Terry Norman.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 42 years, Robert “R.L.” Norman, Sr. of Rossville, GA; two sons, Ronald Norman and Larry Norman both of Ringgold, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Tillie & Brenda Parks, Jr. of Tunnel Hill, GA; sister & brother-inlaw, Juanita & Harold Crider of Rock Spring, GA; 8 grandchild­ren; numerous great grandchild­ren and extended family & friends.

Geneva Elizabeth Benton Deakins age 90 of DeBary, Florida passed away December 31, 2017.

Mark Steven Parkinson, 65, Rossville, Ga.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Steven Parkinson announces his passing on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the age of 65.

Mark had lived in the North Georgia & Chattanoog­a areas for most of his life and was a faithful member of The Rossville Church of God of Prophecy and its ministries. Throughout his adult life, Mark served his Lord Jesus Christ and was a quietly benevolent steward who took care of those in need as a way to live out his Christian walk. He volunteere­d for various school system endeavors as well as civic events. Mark graduated from Hixson High School, the University of West Georgia and Chattanoog­a State Community College. He was a Retired United States Navy Veteran having served more than 25 years of service for his country and also retired from Signal Mountain Cement after more than 30 years of service. He was also a nurse for more than 20 years having worked at Hutcheson Medical Center and then culminatin­g his career as a compassion­ate Hospice nurse. Mark enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He felt great joy in exploring God’s magnificen­t creation, sharing that with family and friends was his passion. Mark truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures--chatting with friends and family, serving where needed, fixing things that needed repair, and being with his wife, children and grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his parents,

Robert & Beulah Hunerwadel and sister, Patricia Carter.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Diana Parkinson & his children, Amy Gass & Jonathan Parkinson all of Rossville, GA; the two brightest stars in his life, his two grandsons, Stephen Thompson & Brayden Gass; loving extended family, motherin-law, Bethel Coleman; Mary (Todd) Franklin & children; sister-inlaw, Kathy (Doug) Ward & children; brothersin-law, James (Becky) Coleman & children, Ken Carter & children, plus numerous extended family & friends.

Fred “Freddie” May, 60, Rossville, Ga.

Fred “Freddie” May, 60, of Rossville passed away Wednesday at his residence.

He was born in Fort Oglethorpe and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1975 and was employed with Astec Industries for 20 years. Freddie was a loving husband and an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He enjoyed hunting but most of all he cherished being a proud Pappy to his four grandchild­ren. Freddie was also a past Master of the Tompkins Lodge #466 in Fort Oglethorpe.

Freddie is preceded in death by his parents; R.D. and Charlotte Evans May.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 33 years; Gina Lovett May, children, Chantel Buffington (Chris) of Fort Walton Beach, Fl. Jeri Lynn Osborne (Justin) of Rossville, grandchild­ren Shelby Brewer, Aubrey Buffington, Kloe Osborne and Henry Osborne as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Estle “Susie” Tumlin Smith, age 84, of LaFayette passed away Friday, December 29, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith; parents, Thurnie Tumlin and Leona Wilkerson Tumlin; and sisters, June Russell, Becky Mahan Buchanan, and Ruby Trammell.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce (Kendall) Hall of LaFayette; special nephew, Tony Trammell; special niece, Kim Harrell; and several additional nephews and nieces.

Ruth Dixon Ingram, age 94, of LaFayette passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ingram; sons, Herman and Gilbert Ingram; grandson, Daniel Ingram; parents, General Gene Dixon and Ida Mosley Dixon; and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Irene Phillips of LaFayette; sons, Verbie Lee Ingram and Michael Ingram both of LaFayette; several grandchild­ren; several great grandchild­ren, several great-great grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Lucille “Sue” McGoff, 90

Dorothy Lucille “Sue” McGoff born March 1, 1927, passed away on January 2, 2018 at the age of 90.

She was born and lived most of her life in Kalamazoo, MI and was the oldest of seven children born to Thomas B. Woodworth and Dorothy L. “Crittenden” Woodworth. Sue graduated from Schoolcraf­t High School and Western Michigan University.

She wed John William McGoff and they had six children. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI, and St. Gerard Catholic Church in Fort Oglethorpe. Sue was a homemaker, Boy and Girl Scout Leader, volunteer and worked in the medical and social services field.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Thomas; and daughter, Theresa.

She is a survived by four children, John McGoff, Marian Keenan, Kathleen McGoff and Christine McKeever, fourteen grandchild­ren, and fourteen greatgrand­children.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church kitchen renovation or Westside Elementary School Student Incentive Program (Catoosa County).

William “Bill” Paul Davis Jr., age 79, of LaFayette passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He attended Trinity Gospel Tabernacle.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Davis Sr.; and mother, Opal Hardwick Scoggins.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Davis of LaFayette; daughter, Marcy (Brandon) Careathers of LaFayette; son, Robert (Amy) Davis of LaFayette; and grandchild­ren, Ashton McFall, Brayden McFall, Connor McFall, Honour Davis, Hope Davis, and Noah Davis.

Harold “Bud” Guffey, 78 of Rossville, departed this life Thursday, January 4, 2018.

He was born in Chattanoog­a to the late Homer and Clara Mae Guffey.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, James Guffey, Marie Webb and Caroline Hicks.

Survivors include his children, David Guffey, of Ooltewah, Cathy Guffey, of Rossville, Darrell (Brenda) Guffey, of Chickamaug­a and Anthony Guffey, of Louden, TN; nine grandchild­ren; eight great-grandchild­ren; many nieces and nephews.

Bobby Larry Buster, 67, Chickamaug­a, Ga.

Bobby Larry Buster, 67, of Chickamaug­a, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Born in Albany, Kentucky, Bobby was a graduate of Huntsville High in Huntsville, Tennessee and served as a Marine in Vietnam. He served as an Alabama State Patrolman, Policeman and fireman at Lookout Mountain, and as a Colonel with the United Nations.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Buster; and niece, Heather.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Wesley) Martin, and Tracy Buster; two sons, Matthew Buster (Jacks) and Mitch Buster (Jacks); mother Margaret (Gene) Sharrock; father, James A. Buster; sister, Sherrie Cooper; brother, Dannie (Jeani) Buster; several grandchild­ren, one great grandchild.

Private memorial services: a later date.
