Hilda Marie Jackson McDowell, 89, Ringgold, Ga.

Hilda Marie Jackson McDowell age 89, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Saturday – January 27, 2018.

She was born in Summervill­e, Georgia to the late C.W. and Louise Russell Jackson. She was a lifelong resident of the Northwest Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Peerless Woolen Mill where she worked in the company kitchen and had worked at

Ryan’s Steakhouse on Ringgold Road for many years where she was known as “Serge.”

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Alvy Carl McDowell, Jr., daughters: Jackie Jackson, Judy Gross, Susie McDowell, daughter-in-law: Mary Jane McDowell and ten siblings.

Survivors include her sons: Brent (Pam) McDowell of Gastonia, NC, Charles McDowell of Ringgold, GA, Mike (Lisa) McDowell of Valdosta, GA, daughter: Lisa Hill of Cleveland, TN, brother: Jimmy (Billie) Jackson of Chatsworth, GA, fourteen grandchild­ren, several greatgrand­children, nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday morning prior to the service.

Funeral services: Noon – Tuesday - January 30, 2018 in the Fort Oglethorpe chapel with Robert Chumley officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a Veterans National Cemetery.

Peggy Ireton, 83, Chickamaug­a, Ga.

Peggy Ireton, 83, of Chickamaug­a, passed away January 20, 2018.

Peggy was born in Bristol, Va. to parents Oscar and Lillian Mumpower

Helton. Peggy lived in California for many years before moving to Chickamaug­a over 27 years ago.

Ms. Ireton is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Lillian Helton, son; Ross Smith, daughter: Beverly Ross & brothers; Charles Helton & Ronny Helton.

Survivors include children; Michael Smith, Scott Ireton

and Susan Ireton, sister; Jean Smith, 9 grandchild­ren and 6 great grandchild­ren.

Peggy’s request was to be cremated and there will be no services.
