Congressman’s reps can help with Social Security, Veterans’ Benefits problems
What is a citizen to do if they’re having trouble with Social Security, Veterans benefits or some other federal program?
If you’ve been going through all the usual channels and getting nowhere, the next step might be to contact your congressman. That’s one of the things he’s there for.
Congressman Tom Graves represents 12 counties in Georgia, including Catoosa and Walker. Citizens can contact his offices at any time with problems, but on certain days throughout the year, staff members from Graves’ offices make themselves available in person in each county to help citizens iron out problems with federal government agencies.
This year, Graves’ office will have representatives at the Catoosa County Administrative Building, 800 Lafayette St., in Ringgold from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 6, March 13, May 8, June 12 and Oct. 9. Walker County citizens will find a Graves representative at the Walker County Courthouse, Annex I, 101 South Duke St., in Lafayette from 1-3 p.m. on March 6, April 10, June 5, Sept. 11 and Nov. 13.
Citizens should check Graves’ web site for updates and possible changes close to the dates listed: tomgraves.house.gov/ district/districtmap.
The congressman maintains two permanent offices in his home state, one in Dalton and one in Rome. Citizens can reach Congressman Graves at 202-225-5211 (Washington, D.C.), 706226-5320 (Dalton), or 706-290-1776 (Rome).
