Catoosa students heading around the state and to NYC on field trips

At its March 6 meeting, the Catoosa County Board of Education approved 20 field trips for students, one to New York City.

The field trips are all related to activities the students are involved with at school, and a lot of the trips are to the Atlanta area and to other schools in Georgia.

Students from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Heritage High schools will be going to the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Conference in Atlanta.

Reading enthusiast­s from Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, Cloud Springs Elementary School and Battlefiel­d Elementary School will be attending the Tome Society Reading Conference at the University of Georgia’s Gainesvill­e campus.

Heritage High School students will be going to Pepperell High School in Floyd County for a Future Farmers of America event and for a Chorus performanc­e. HHS students will also be participat­ing in four Winter Guard competitio­ns – one at Lakeview-FortOgleth­orpe High, one at LaFayette High and two at Gibbs High School in Tennessee.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School students will be traveling to Atlanta for Future Business Leaders of America events, and their State Drill Team will be heading to Griffin to perform. Their girls’ and boys’ soccer teams will be competing at Haralson County High School.

Ringgold High School students will be traveling to Sweetwater, Tn., for “Adventure Training.”

Heritage Middle School students will be heading to a farm in Rome for a Future Farmers of America event, and a group of students from the school will going on a five-day trip to a Broadway workshop in New York City.
