Christophe­r Van Dawn, 53, Rossville, Ga.

Christophe­r Van Dawn, 53, of Rossville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his residence.

Chris was a 1985 graduate of Rossville High School and was the recipient of the Fantastic Achievemen­t Award in 1985. While attending Chattanoog­a State, he was awarded the Baptist Student Union Student of the Year award in 1986. Chris was a former member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church and was currently an active member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. He worked in security for Murray Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. B.B. Dawn & Martha Jo Worley Dawn.

Survivors include his brother, Benny (Mary) Dawn of Rossville; aunt, Reba Hudgins, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; uncles, Wayne Dawn of Rossville, & Teddy Dawn, Sarasota, FL.

Graveside services: Wednesday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Dailey Hills Cemetery with Pastor Michael Smith officiatin­g.

William “Twon” Anthony Lynn, 70, Tunnel Hill, Ga.

William “Twon” Anthony Lynn, 70, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a former employee of World Carpet where he worked for 10 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry and Belle Caylor Lynn; brother, Gary Robert Lynn and sister-in-law, Mary Kate Lynn.

He is survived by two sons, Stacey Spencer of Elizabetht­on, KY., and Scotty Spencer of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Donald Lynn of Tunnel Hill, GA.; one nephew and three nieces, Michael and Jamie Lynn, Cynthia Gattis, and Mary Michelle Keener all of Tunnel Hill, GA.; two great nieces, Haley and Mallory; five great nephews, Jordain, Tyler, Zachary, MyKynzie, and Donovan; Three lifelong best friends, Claude Ross of Ringgold, GA., Gary Colburn and Luckie Huggins both of Dalton, GA.

James Crowder, 59, Chattanoog­a, Tenn.

James Crowder, 59 of Chattanoog­a passed away Monday, May 21, 2018.

He had lived in the Chattanoog­a area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was the Owner & Operator of J&R Auto for more than 20 years and loved watching wrestling, camping and of course working on cars. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Pop” & Shirley Crowder; son, James Allan Crowder and brother, Richard “Rocky” Crowder.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 9 years, Carolyn Crowder; mother-inlaw, Nancy Gilliam; children & spouses, Tommy & (Dawn) Ellis, Okla & (Johnny) Nixon, Danielle Shook & (Aaron Jones) and Robin & (Matt) Cooper; brother & sister-in-law, Lee & (Lisa) Crowder; 7 grandchild­ren, Cameron Ellis, Abigail Ellis, JR Adkirson, Maranda Adkirson, Haley Bowers, Eli Jones and Lainey Jones; 1 great grandson and numerous extended family & friends.

Mr. Benjamin Franklin (“B. F.”) Davis, age 85, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at a local hospital.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burse Davis, daughters, Freada Vanessa Davis. He was retired from the Walker County Board of Education Maintenanc­e Coordinato­r.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy C. Davis, and Rita Vernicer Davis; son, Jeffrey Davis, stepson, Samuel Traylor of LaFayette, Georgia; sister, Evangelist Barbara A. Mathis; niece, Stephanie (Kennedy) Byrd Garner of Cincinnati, Ohio; nephew, Stephen Wilkins of Raleigh, North Carolina; sisterin-law, Bertha Burse of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia; brothers-in-law, J. L. (Flossie) Burse, James Burse of LaFayette; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Rebecca Hulguin Alcala, 78, Flintstone, Ga.

The family of Rebecca Hulguin Alcala rejoices that she went to Heaven to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 78 years.

Rebecca was born on April 7, 1940, the eldest of five children to Ludovico & Ramona Hulguin of Linaon, Cauayan, Negros Occidental. After graduating from the Nursing School at Occidental Negros Provincial Hospital in 1964, she moved to Manitoba, Canada and worked for five years as a nurse. After marrying Quezon C. Alcala on December 23, 1972, she moved to Georgia and was a 42 year resident of Flintstone. In 1997, Rebecca earned a Bachelor’s in Religious Education from Covington Theologica­l Seminary. Rebecca worked at Hutcheson Medical Center, in home health care, and Memorial Hospital.

Rebecca will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Quezon Sr., sons, Dwight Quezon and Quezon Jr (Bernadette), and 4 grandchild­ren (Inara, Miles, Keaton, and Morena).

Imajean Lynn Thompson, 83, East Ridge, Tenn.

Imajean Lynn Thompson, 83, of East Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Ider, Alabama and was a member of Indian Springs Church of God. She was employed as a seamstress with C.D. Gentry, loved to cook and sew.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, James Cecil Thompson, daughter, Wanda Lewis, brothers, James & Junior Lynn, sister, Louada Clark, and one grandchild, David Lewis.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Barrett, Willa Jones, & Sandra Carter; sons, Bobby “Robert” Eaton, Rodney Thompson & Scott King; sister, Flo Castleberr­y; and brother, Scott Lynn; eleven grandchild­ren.

Funeral services: Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Max Kessler officiatin­g.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elaine Martin Johnson; children, Curtis (Tracy) Edward Johnson, Hope Leianne Cureton, Chad (Jen) Johnson, Chet (Toni) Johnson; seven grandchild­ren; one great grandchild; sister, Becky (Sam) Ball; brother, Mike (Paula) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Dimitri “Meekie” Chambers, 16, of LaFayette passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

He enjoyed music, playing video games with his friends, reading books, and loved hanging out with his sister, Paris.

His is survived by his mother, Terri Chambers; father, Tony Shelton; sisters, Paris Shelton and Toni Shelton; grandparen­ts, Gwen Chambers, Ray Charles Marsh, Betty Holland, and Calvin Shelton; special aunt, Lisa Chambers; and loving and devoted caregiver for eight years, Cynthia Burse McCoy.

Leon Crowe, 75, of LaFayette, Ga.

Leon Crowe, 75, of LaFayette passed away Friday, May 18, 2018.

In 1961, he cofounded the South Main Trim Shop with his late brother, Melvin, where the business was known to many as Crowe Brothers. Leon owned and operated the shop for 56 years until its closure in 2017. He had a love for music, was a kind hearted man and loved people and animals. He attended Life Gate Church where he was known as the “mint man” to the youth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hurst Crowe; daughter, Angie Brock; brothers, Melvin Crowe, Ed “Cooter” Crowe and Algin Crowe; sister, Ruth “Yodle” Henry.

He is survived by his daughters, Renea Crowe and April Yoder of LaFayette; sons, Robbie Crowe of LaFayette and Sonny Crowe of Chickamaug­a; eight grandchild­ren; two great grandchild­ren; sister, Lucille Lindsey of Rome; and brother, Harold “B.F.” Crow of Rome; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ed Hise officiatin­g.

Interment: Crest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reva Joyce Dodd Oldham, 62, Ringgold, Ga.

Reva Joyce Dodd Oldham, age 62, of Ringgold, loving mother and Nana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 2, 1955, Reva grew up in Harrison, TN and graduated from Birchwood High School in 1973. She moved to Ringgold, GA in 1974

where she spent the remainder of her life. She worked for Buster Brown for over 20 years and then worked for Kenco Logistics for 17 years. She retired in May 2017 and spent the last year of her life as a full-time Nana to her grandson Michael and granddaugh­ter Jenna. She had a servant’s heart, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved the Lord, her family, and her friends wholeheart­edly. We rejoice her reception into Heaven but mourn our earthly loss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Joyce Dodd, and her brother Anthony Dodd.

Survivors include her daughter, Misty Branam and son-in-law Jonathan Branam; grandson, Michael Branam and granddaugh­ter, Jenna Branam; brother, Richard Dodd and sister-in-law, Carolyn Dodd; nieces, Stacy (Randy) Bell, Lauren Whittaker, Heather Whittaker; great nieces, Morgan Bell and Natalie Burns. A special thank you to several extended family and friends including Lisa Kuntz, Mike and Linda Branam, Josh and Jennifer Branam, Brayden Dickson, Chance and Ryder Branam, Geneva Branam, Barbara Brown and family, Donna Carter, Joy Pierce, and Rhonda Tucker who helped make her last 2 months more enjoyable. Special thanks to Dr. Harsha Vardhana and his staff at Erlanger Oncology, Dr. Michael Dant, and Hospice of Chattanoog­a for their exceptiona­l care.

Hattie Belle Riddle Kreis, 87, Rossville, Ga.

Hattie Belle Riddle Kreis age 87, of Rossville, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Friday – May 25, 2018.

She was born in Rockwood, Tennessee to the late Freeman & Lola Headrick Riddle. She has resided most of her life in the Chickamaug­a area, where she was a former employee of Crystal Springs Bleachery. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading her Bible and loving her family dearly. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Rock Spring, GA.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband: Joseph Carl “J.C.” Kreis and brother: William Calvin “Bill” Riddle.

She is loved and cherished by her daughter: Loria (Jimmy) Roach of Rossville, GA, God daughter: Stephanie Abushaqra of Hixson, TN, sister: Margie Smith of Oakdale, TN, grandchild­ren: Contessa Roach, Hudson Abushaqra, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm Saturday with a chapel service to follow with Pastor Mike Angel officiatin­g.

Burial: 3:00 pm – Sunday – May 27, 2018 in Pine Orchard Cemetery – Oakdale, TN.

Marsha Jo Ryans Morrison, 67, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018.

A native of Harriman, Tennessee, she has lived in the Ringgold area for the past 35 years and was a former employee of Chambliss Center for Children where she worked for 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Walter Ryans; mother, Margaret Dunlap Ryans Leffew; and brother, Johnny Ryans.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Buck” Morrison of Ringgold, GA.; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Burt Finley of East Ridge, TN.; two sisters, Faye (Carl) Conley of Harriman, TN., and Marie Shubert of Rossville, GA.; four brothers, Alan Ryans of Kentucky, Tommy Ryans of Rossville, GA., James (Agnes) Ryans of Kingston, TN and Richard Ryans of Winter Haven, FL.; two grandchild­ren, Nolan Finley and Brian Allen; several nieces and nephews.

John Michael Green, 65, Rossville, Ga.

John Michael Green age 65, of Rossville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday - May 26, 2018 surrounded at home by his wife and loved ones.

Michael has been a lifelong resident of the Rossville area and was employed with Joy Carpet for more than 45 years. The owners Ed & Peggy Jorges who are now both deceased were very influentia­l in Michael’s life. His recent employers were Dennis & Joy Dobosh and were so good to Michael & his family during his long illness for which we are very grateful.

He was preceded in death by his father: John William Green, brother: James William Green, grandparen­ts: William & Ruth Green and Nell Carter Case.

He is survived by his wife: Sheila Ann Oliver Green of Rossville, GA, mother: Betty Jean Carter Green of Blairsvill­e, GA, brother: Mark (Cindy) Green, nephews: Zachary Edward Green of Lookout Mountain, GA, George Daniel, Austin Daniel all of Lookout Mountain, GA.
