The LFO Lady Warriors went into last week’s Region 6-AAA tournament in Calhoun hoping to find a little more of the magic that helped them to a runner-up finish a year ago.

However, it simply wasn’t meant to be this time around.

LFO shook off an 8-0 loss to Ringgold in the opening round by beating North Murray, 5-2, in an elimination game on Tuesday. They put a scare into the Lady Tigers in a Wednesday rematch, but fell short by a 5-3 count, ending the season with a 12-14 mark.

Haley Stahl took the loss in the first game against Ringgold. She finished with four strikeouts, while Morgan Ritchey had the only hit, a single.

Against the Lady Mountaineers, LFO took a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks in part to Lyndsey Teague’s solo homerun. Taylor Bono picked up an RBI. Ritchey, Taylor Phillips and Keelie Mauk each had two hits and one RBI, while Maddy Adkins had a hit. Stahl gave up just one earned run and did not walk a batter in seven innings in the circle. She allowed six hits and struck out four.

LFO was nursing a 3-2 lead in the rematch with the Lady Tigers, looking to send Ringgold packing for the season. But Ringgold would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth before taking the lead for good on a two-run homer.

Haley Stahl took the loss for LFO, allowing five earned runs in six innings, while finishing with just one strikeout. Adkins and Phillips had two hits each for the Lady Warriors, while Shelby Houts had her team’s only RBI.
