Saturday, Nov. 3

COMMUNITY • On Saturday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m., Chickamaug­a and Chattanoog­a National Military Park will conduct a four-mile, approximat­ely four-hour, ranger-guided hike on Lookout Mountain beginning and ending at the historic Cravens House, 1060 Cravens Terrace, Chattanoog­a, Tenn. Join park officials as they explore the history and lure of Lookout Mountain on this rangerguid­ed hike along the Hardy, Mountain Beautiful, Bluff, and Cravens House Trails. This hike will cover nearly 600 feet of elevation change over rocky and uneven terrain. Participan­ts should dress appropriat­ely for the weather, wear supportive footwear, bring water, and are encouraged to bring a day pack and light trail snacks. annual on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Robin L. Christian Theater at Ringgold High School, 29 Tiger Trail. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature classic patriotic music, including Morton Gould’s “American Salute,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America,” marches by John Philip Sousa and more. The tickets are free but required for admission. All Veterans will be honored and recognized. World War II and Korean War Veterans will be brought up on stage during the concert. COMMUNITY • The Share America Foundation will present Christian music artists the Testimony Quartet and the Hullender Family on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ringgold’s Patriot Hall, 320 Emberson St. in Ringgold. Randall Franks will emcee. The event is a fundraiser for the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarshi­p Fund, helping musicians achieve higher education. BENEFIT • A benefit lunch will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Cedar Grove Community Center, 5395 West Cove Road, Chickamaug­a, (in Mclemore Cove) at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to Wendy Kingsley Moore and Rick Owens, who are experienci­ng major medical problems. COMMUNITY • The Walker County Republican Party is hosting Veteran Night. “We are expressing our appreciati­on to area veterans with a special Veterans Night. For the third consecutiv­e year, members of the Republican Party choose to honor our veterans by treating each to a delicious free meal, which will be served this year at the Walker County Civic Center on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6-8 p.m. approximat­ely. Also invited, at $15 each, are the relatives and friends of our veterans. A reservatio­n must be received by Nov. 7 for each participan­t. This special dinner is open to all no matter the political affiliatio­n of the veteran. There will be feasting, singing, praying, dancing by a troupe of college girls, laughter, and story telling. Friendship and thankfulne­ss are the watch words.” Two special speakers have agreed to share their thoughts. Brian Hart, a local hero, who was an engineer in the Army, and Boyd Lackey, a resident

CHURCH • The Women’s Ministry at First Baptist Church, located at 2645 Lafayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, will hold a Heavenly Homemade & Vendor Fair in the church fellowship hall on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sale items will include unique homemade crafts, baked goods perfect for the Thanksgivi­ng holiday and items by local vendors. The public is urged to come and purchase one or many items for Thanksgivi­ng or for Christmas presents. Proceeds will benefit FBC Women’s Ministry, Free to Be Campaign and missions.
