Prep Wrestling Report: Lafayette wins LFO Duals

The Lafayette Ramblers went 5-0 to win first place at the LFO Duals on Saturday in Fort Oglethorpe.

The Ramblers defeated Haralson County (60-15), Murray County (54-21), Dade County ( 48- 34), Adairsvill­e ( 54- 30) and LFO (75-0).

Full individual results were not available as of press time.

Lafayette was slated to wrestle in a multi- team event at Gordon Lee on Tuesday of this week starting at 9 a.m. and they are scheduled to join three other schools for dual matches at East Ridge High School on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The Gordon Lee Mat Trojans handled both Calhoun (42-28) and Chattooga (526) in a tri-meet in Chickamaug­a this past Thursday.

Mckaden Martin, Hunter Burnette, Bryce James, Penn Askew, Romney Duke, Avery Geer, Logan Butler and Owen Frost all went 2- 0 on the night, while Nathan Hunley and Jagger Martin were both 1-1.

The Trojans kept it going on Saturday as they went 3-1 at the Coosa Duals.

Gordon Lee defeated Model (43-36), Cherokee (54-24) and Coosa (54-24), while the lone loss came at the hands of Class AAAAAA Paulding County (49-29).

Burnette, James, Askew, Butler and Frost each went 4- 0 in their individual matches. Geer was 3- 0, while Alex Geesey and Montgomery Kephart were both 1- 0. Hunley ( 3- 1), Tomy Duke (2-1) and Martin (2-2) also wrestled for the Trojans.

The Ridgeland Panthers gave up forfeits at 113, 195 and 220, but still finished second at the Chattooga Duals on Saturday.

Ridgeland defeated Armuchee ( 36- 30) and Vidalia ( 45- 30), but fell to Oglethorpe County ( 48- 27).

Jacob Mariakis went 4- 0 on the day. Aiden Raymer and Ethan Morgan were both 3- 0 and Bryanna Goldsmith went 2-0, while Garrett Romans, Chris Prescott and Dylan Fowler each finished 2-1.

Ridgeland’s next dual competitio­n will be a home tri-match on Nov. 30 against Dade County and Northwest Whitfield. It will be Alumni Night and Senior Night for the Mat Panthers.
