It was a semi-successful weekend for both the Gordon Lee Trojans and Lady Trojans, who both went 1-1, but also picked up initial subregion victories.

Sam Norton’s 3-pointer with 10 seconds to go proved to be the game-winner as the Navy-andWhite knocked off visiting Darlington, 42-40, in a Region 6-A North game on Friday. The Tigers entered the game ranked No. 8 in the Class 1A Private School state rankings by Score Atlanta.

Justin Wooden hit three 3-pointers and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line to finish with a gamehigh 18 points for Gordon Lee. Jake Poindexter and Wylie Heming had seven points each. Norton finished with five points. Robert Napier and Weston Beagles had two each, while Hunter Hodson chipped in with one.

The following day in Marietta, the Trojans fell behind 24-12 after the first quarter and could not make up the difference in a 75-56 loss to traditional state power North Cobb Christian.

Wooden connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for Gordon Lee (2-5, 1-1), while Norton had three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Napier had eight points and Heming dropped in six. Beagles and Timothy Whitsett had four points apiece, while Hodson and Jake Poindexter had each had two.

The Lady Trojans fell behind 17-7 at intermission on Friday, but rallied in the second half to cut Darlington’s lead down to 34-27 with four minutes to play. However, the Lady Tigers would not allow Gordon Lee to get any closer as they pulled away for a 44-33 victory.

Gracie O’neal led all scorers with 17 points for the Lady Trojans. Addison Sturdivant finished with seven points. Macy Sharp, Emma Mcgraw, Sadie Gasaway and Skye Alexander had two points each, while Emma Langston finished with one.

Gordon Lee finally snapped its losing streak on Saturday and also picked up its first sub-region victory of the year with a 45-39 road victory at North Cobb Christian.

Mcgraw paced the Lady Trojans (1-7, 1-1) with 16 points. O’neal had 13 points, while Langston added five. Gasaway and Sharp chipped in with four points each. Ashlyn Schmidt finished with two points and Sturdivant had one.
