Mariakis first, Panthers sixth overall in Tullahoma

The Ridgeland Panthers went 2-1 at a quadmatch at LFO on Thursday night, defeating North Murray (49-27) and LFO (6024), but falling to Hixson (45-27).

Angel Ojeda, Jacob Mariakis, Dylan Swanson and Ethan Morgan all went 3-0, while Chris Prescott, Jordan Hughley, Mehki Ross, Aiden Raymer and Kyle Brown each went 2-1 for the Panthers, who gave up forfeits at 113 and 120 pounds in all three matches.

Results of the Warriors’ matches against North Murray and Hixson had not been provided as of press time.

The Panthers traveled north to Tullahoma, Tenn. for the Garner-dyer Invitation­al on Saturday and had a solid showing as they tied with Walker Valley for sixth place overall with 104 points.

Mariakis took first place at 160 pounds. He went 3-0 with a technical fall, a major decision and a pin in the finals. Swanson was 2-1 at 170. He won both of his matches by pin and finished second in his weight class.

Prescott (126) went 4-1 with three majors and one pin, while Tommy Lamb (220) went 3-1 with three pins. Both wrestlers finished third. Raymer (138) went 2- 2 to take fourth place. Ojeda ( 152) and Brown ( 195) were both 2-2, while Morgan (182) went 1-2.

Scottsboro, Ala. won the tournament with 167 points. Brentwood, Tenn. (150.5) was second. Grissom, Ala. (143) was third, followed by Montgomery Bell Academy (124.5) and Murfreesbo­ro Oakland (119.5).

Stone defeats two state champions

Ringgold went 1-1 in a trimatch at Sonoravill­e this past Thursday, defeating Armuchee (45-33), but falling to the Phoenix (54-15).

It was a big night for Tanner Stone, who battled through a shoulder injury and beat a pair of state champions in Armuchee’s Wes Conley (5-3) and Sonoravill­e’s Eli Knight (3-2).

Also winning for the Tigers against the Indians was Luke Mills, Scott Clinton, Logan Skeen, Holden Moss, Malachi Parker, Seth Parker, Kaiser Cross and Tyler Barker, while Skeen and Parker Gill also won matches against Sonoravill­e.

Tigers finish top 10 in Dalton

At the Dalton Carpet Classic on Saturday, Ringgold placed 10th overall with 70.5 points.

Skeen (132), Moss (138) and Malachi Parker (182) all made the finals, but all had to settle for second-place finishes. Skeen went 3-1 with two pins and a technical fall, Moss was 2- 1 with one major decision and Parker was 2-1 with two pins.

Seth Parker (152), Mills (160) and Clinton (285) all went 1-2 with one pin, while Luke Parks (285) also went 1-2.
