Middle School Girls’ Basketball: Heritage prevails in Ringgold tussle

A highly-anticipate­d match-up between the Heritage Lady Generals and the Ringgold Lady Tigers finally took place in Ringgold last Tuesday and it was the visiting Lady Generals opening up a big first-half lead en route to a 35-19 win.

Heritage took a 20-9 lead at halftime before going on to the win. Katy Thompson had 11 points in the victory. Aaliyah Rodgers added six points. Dayonna Perryman and Lauren Mock had five each, while four other Heritage players scored two apiece.

Allie Massengale had 10 points to pace the Lady Tigers. Tahji Griggs had three points, while three other Ringgold players added two each.

Ringgold bounced back on Thursday with a 34-11 non-league win over the home-schooled Chattanoog­a Lady Patriots. Ringgold led 7-1 after a low-scoring first quarter, but blew the game open by outscoring the visitors 17-0 in the second period.

Massengale had 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Hannah Scott finished with five points, while Emily Love and Kelsey Davis had four points apiece.

Christina Collins led three Lady Warriors in double figures as they rolled to a 50-11 victory over Chattanoog­a Valley last Tuesday afternoon in a game played at LFO High School. Collins finished with 13 points, followed by Kayla Lopez with 11 and Ashlyn Isbill with 10.

Kayla Lopez had six points. Julie Shore and Christen Collins had four each, while Sadie Robinson chipped in with two.

Miriam Gaines had five points for the Lady Eagles, while Molly Pickard, Haile Thompson and Emma Yarbrough had two points apiece.

Lakeview followed up with a 49-6 win over Rossville at home on Thursday as they stayed unbeaten on the season.

Collins had 12 points. Christen Collins had 11 points and Sydney O’neal added 10 in a balanced scoring effort for the winners. Isbill picked up six points. Piper Piatt had four points. Julie Shore and Sadie Robinson had two each, while Lopez finished with one.

Shayla Rosson had four points to lead Rossville, while Calese Dallas and Jada Hall added one point apiece.

The Lafayette girls’ basketball team snapped a long losing streak to Gordon Lee by beating the Lady Trojans in Chickamaug­a, 26-25, on a buzzer-beater by Shelby Madden last Tuesday.

Lafayette got 11 points from Suki Williams and the Lady Ramblers erased a 12-point halftime deficit in the win. Emma Baker and Michaela Baker both finished with four points, followed by Jenna Baker with three and Laney Rayburn with two.

Individual statistics for Gordon Lee had not been provided as of press time.

Gordon Lee got the only three points in overtime and picked up a 24-21 victory over Chattanoog­a Valley Thursday night in Flintstone as they bounced back from the loss.

Kaitlyn Wagoner and Dallas Wagoner had eight points apiece for the Lady Trojans. Tenslee Wilson had four points, while Emma Phillips and Seanna Norton had two points apiece.

Gaines had eight points to lead the Lady Eagles. Thompson added five points and Autumn Pasley finished with four.
