A Catoosa County woman was arrested on a battery charge after she allegedly threatened to stab her roommate, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office:

Angela Kaye Carter, 39, of Ringgold was arrested Jan. 31 on charges of battery and obstruction of officers. Her bond was set at $2,500.

Around 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Jan. 31, deputies were dispatched to the 1500 block of Ooltewah-ringgold Road regarding a domestic dispute.

The male victim told deputies he was awakened by Carter hitting him with her fists and also claimed she threatened him with a knife.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they say Carter actually had a knife in her hand when she answered the door.

Carter allegedly admitted to striking the victim with her fist, and deputies did observe abrasions on the victim, reports show.

To compound matters further, deputies believed Carter was on drugs when they were questioning her.

“It appeared Ms. Carter was under the influence of some type of narcotic stimulant, and she did admit to being a methamphetamine user,” Deputy Garrett Espy said.

Carter also resisted arrested when deputies attempted to handcuff her, reports show.

After she was placed into custody, Carter made some pretty outrageous claims against her roommate that further indicated she was under the influence of drugs.

Carter told deputies she observed the victim behead a woman; claimed mounds of dirt in the back yard looked like mass graves, and insisted she observed satanic rituals being performed on the property.

Woman charged with trespassing in late grandmother’s home

A West Virginia woman was arrested in Rossville after she was found to be trespassing on her deceased grandmother’s property, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office:

Marilyn Elizabeth Propst, 65, of Franklin, W.V., was arrested Monday, Jan. 28, on a single charge of criminal trespass. Her bond was set at $1,500.

Deputies responded to a burglary call in the 1800 block of Cloud Springs Road in Rossville at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The complainants in the case were in the driveway when deputies arrived. The couple said they were administrators of the vacant property and that no one should have been inside the home.

Deputies noticed movement inside the home and were able to confront Propst at the back door as she was trying to leave.

Propst claimed the home belonged to her deceased grandmother and that she was in charge of the property.

“I asked what she was doing there and she stated she was cleaning because it was her house,” Deputy Aaron Thomas said.

After a back-and-forth between the family members, Thomas said, Propst couldn’t provide any paper work that she was representative for the home. He also didn’t buy the scenario that she was there to clean the home.

“I saw no evidence that Ms. Propst was attempting to clean the house,” Deputy Thomas said. “There were no trash bags, boxes, or cleaning products, and there were items strewn about the house everywhere.”

Deputies were able to contact additional family members who confirmed that Propst was not in charge of the home.

It was also learned that the Sheriff’s Office had been called to the home a week earlier for Propst trespassing on the property; however, she left the scene before deputies arrived.

Family members said they wanted to press charges against Propst, and she was taken to jail.

Propst had a dog with her during the incident, and the animal was turned over to Catoosa County Animal Control after her arrest.

Hundreds of dollars worth of tools stolen from truck

Hundreds of dollars worth of tools were stolen from a vehicle parked on Gwen Drive in Catoosa County, police say.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred sometime during the evening of Jan. 19 or during the day on Jan. 20.

The victim told deputies that someone stole several tools from the toolbox located in the bed of his truck, which was parked outside the residence.

The victim said he’d used some of the tools that Saturday evening to do work inside the home and that he locked them up in the toolbox when he was finished.

The theft was discovered the following afternoon, but the victim did say that he heard a car door shut near the outside of his home around 11 p.m.

An eight-piece set of power tools, wrenches, socket sets and socket wrenches, and a Stanley toolbox were among the items taken, reports show.

Anyone with information regarding the theft or the missing property is encouraged to contact Detective Michael Tinker with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office at 706-935-2424.

Woman charged with assault following knife attack

A homeless woman was arrested for assault in Catoosa County for allegedly attacking a man with a knife, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office:

Julie Mae Foster, 35, was arrested Jan. 29 on charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespassing. Her bond was set at $12,500.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Boynton Drive just before 10 a.m. after a neighbor called regarding a standoff between Foster and a male victim.

The victim told deputies he let Foster stay at his home the night before, but that he told her to leave that morning because she was screaming at the walls.

Shortly thereafter, the victim said he saw Foster damaging his truck.

“She walked out of the residence and then a few minutes later, he heard a loud noise and saw her stabbing his truck tires in the driveway,” Deputy Brandy Davis said. “He ran outside and told Ms. Foster to stop, and she turned toward him with the knife.”

The victim said he picked up a baseball bat to defend himself, and that when Foster lunged at him with him with the knife, he struck her in the leg with the bat in self-defense, reports show.

A neighbor saw the altercation through her living room window and called police.

After learning police were on their way, Foster fled on foot. She was eventually located by deputies at another Boynton Drive residence.

When questioned, Foster claimed the male victim started the incident by attacking her.

“She stated the victim attacked her in the house so she ran,” Deputy Davis said. “She (Foster) claimed she never touched the vehicle or pulled a knife on anyone.”

A few moments later, Deputy Davis found a knife in Foster’s purse, which she claimed wasn’t hers.

The neighbor who witnessed the events gave a statement that she saw Foster at the vehicle’s tires, and also described Foster as the one doing the attacking in the driveway.

Jail records show that Foster was already out on bond for drugrelated charges. That bond has been surrendered in light of the new charges involved with Tuesday’s arrest.
