Oakwood boys split latest two games

The Oakwood Christian Eagles saw their seasonhigh six-game winning streak snapped with a 63-53 road loss to the Chattanoog­a Patriots this past Thursday night.

Jacob Wellwood had 15 points for Oakwood. Garrison Baggett had 11 points. Cory Taylor and Woody Hass had eight points each, while Tyler Epperson and Phillip Davis with chipped in with four apiece. Andrew Phillips had just two points before leaving the game with an injury in the second quarter, while Caleb Epperson added one point.

Results of the girls’ game had not been provided as of press time.

Oakwood boys 57, Liberty Christian 44

One night later, back in Chickamaug­a, the Eagles began a new winning streak with a wire-to-wire victory. Up by just four points after the first quarter, OCA outscored the visitors 17-8 in the second quarter and never looked back.

The Eagles (12-10) had 47 total rebounds and 14 total assists in the victory. Tyler Epperson had a teamhigh 17 points and added seven boards. Hass picked up 13 points to go with six rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists, while Baggett added nine points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Wellwood added seven points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Davis had six points and a teambest 17 boards, while Taylor pitched in with five points.
