Middle School Soccer: Saddle Ridge boys continue historic run Middle School Baseball: Gordon Lee topples Ringgold in late-season showdown

The Saddle Ridge Mustangs played their final regular season conference match last Tuesday and ended their NGAC slate the same way they started it...unbeaten.

The Mustangs got a hattrick from Landon Kennedy, two coming in the first half, as they beat Heritage, 3-1, to finish the conference schedule without a loss (5-0-3) for the first time in program history.

Levi Ledford was credited with an assist on the final goal as he put a corner kick in a perfect spot for a Kennedy header. Mali Davis and Michael Newsom were named as defensive standouts by head coach Ben Scoggins, while Lake Johnson made several big saves in net.

Individual scoring for the Generals had not been provided as of press time. Lindsay Davies, Emilie Freeman, Lily Langston and Briley Simpson.

The Heritage girls ran their mark to 8-0 in the NGAC and finished the regular season as NGAC league champions.

The Warriors trailed 1-0 at the half last Monday, but scored five unanswered goals by five different players to score a win over Ringgold.

Bryson Sullivan scored on a long free kick and had a corner kick assist on a goal by Jacob Sloan. Randy Floyd, Aldin Duracak and Javier Rafael all had one goal each for the Warriors.

Conner Niswonger scored the only goal for the Tigers, while Jacob Sparks made multiple saves in goal.

This past Thursday night saw a rematch of last year’s NGAC finals and perhaps of potential preview of this year’s conference championsh­ip series as the Gordon Lee Trojans got a big night from Blake Rodgers in a 5-0 victory at Ringgold.

Rodgers broke a scoreless tie with a solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning. He added an Rbi-double in the fifth and laced a two-run single in the seventh. Brodie Genter also had an Rbi-single in that final inning.

Kade Cowan had two hits, including a double, while Nate Dunfee, Holt Roberts and Hunter Holmes all had singles for the Trojans.

Bo Rhudy pitched 4.1 innings to get the win. He gave up just one hit and two walks and finished with eight strikeouts before giving way to the bullpen. Rodgers came in and allowed just one hit and struck out three batters in 2.2 innings on the mound.

Conner Christophe­r and Brent Lee Raby had the two singles for the Tigers. Sam Crew pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks with one strikeout. Ross Norman pitched the final three innings. He gave up four earned runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. outs in one inning of relief.

Dawsyn Ware, Hudson Moss and Cade Tankersley all had one RBI each, while Crew, Raby and Myles Hudson also pitched for the Tigers. That trio combined to walk two batters, allow three hits and strike out three in four innings.

J.J. Hunt and Taylor Vinson both had a single and two RBIS as the Generals defeated the Mustangs last Monday afternoon in Boynton.

Brady Chandler added a hit and an RBI for the Generals in the victory. Garrison May pitched two innings, allowing just one walk and striking out four, while Chandler pitched the final inning in relief.

Wyatt Blevins went 2-for-3 and knocked in a pair of runs, but it was not enough for the Mustangs last Tuesday as they dropped a home decision to the Wolverines.

Blevins suffered the loss on the mound. He pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out six batters.

Cole Spears had a double and pitched one inning of relief, giving up two earned runs and striking out one. Jacob Bond also had a single and a stolen base for the Mustangs knocked in a run and scored four times, while Connor Gorzyki, Halen Chaney and Levi Millsaps all knocked in one run apiece.

Acuff pitched all four innings. He allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.

For the Mustangs, Spears doubled and knocked in both runs. Blevins also had a double, while Bond added a single.

Spears pitched three innings in the loss. He gave up just three earned runs on two hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Blevins pitched the final inning. He gave up five earned runs on five hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Zach Barrett gave up just one run on four hits and the Lafayette Ramblers picked up a victory over Dade County on Thursday. Barrett walked three batters and had six strikeouts in five innings. Nick Adams would throw two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.

Adams had an Rbi-double in the bottom of the first and the Ramblers would collect two more runs in the third to break a 1-1 tie. Barrett helped himself with a ground-rule double to bring in Zain Smith, while a Justin Cook single would plate Lane Headrick with his second run of the night.

Three more runs in the fourth would help put the game away. Barrett drove in Koven Freeman with a single, while Adams and Austin Tucker would follow suit with back-to-back Rbi-singles to bring in Smith and Headrick.

Lafayette tacked on an insurance run in the sixth. Barrett doubled before coming home on a single by Barrett, to complete a 4-for-4 night. Adams finished 3-for-4 at the plate.
