Gordon Lee girls go 1-1 in last week’s subregion games

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans made the long drive to Carroll County last Tuesday night, but returned to Chickamaug­a smarting from a 38-31 subregion loss to Mt. Zion.

The host Lady Eagles carried a narrow 20-18 lead into the locker room, but held the Lady Trojans to just 13 points in the second half to win the defensive battle.

Gracie O’neal was the only double-figure scorer for Gordon Lee as the senior finished with 12 points. Star Alexander had six points. Addison Sturdivant finished with four and Skye Alexander added three.

Gordon Lee girls 58, Excel Christian 12

The Navy-and-white stormed out to a 26-3 lead after one quarter on Friday and rolled to an easy victory over Excel Christian in a Region 6-A North game in Cartersvil­le.

Emma Mcgraw had 12 points for the Lady Trojans (5-12, 2-5) as all 13 players got in the scoring column. Riley Shirley finished with eight points, followed by Ashlyn Schmidt with seven and Emma Phillips with five.

Mt. Zion boys 70, Gordon Lee 50

The second game of the evening last Tuesday saw the Eagles build a 36-21 lead at the break before adding to their lead in the third quarter.

Weston Beagles scored 18 points for the Trojans. Will Carswell finished with 10 points. Robert Napier added eight points and Sam Norton had five.

Excel boys 58, Gordon Lee 53

Beagles once again led the Trojans with 18 points in Friday’s nightcap, but it would not be enough as the host Eagles claimed the subregion win.

Logan Simerely had 10 points for Gordon Lee (413, 0-7), while Napier and Carswell finished with eight points each.
