Ringgold rediscover­s its roar

Tigers extend current winning streak to five

After a 1-4 start to the season, the Ringgold Tigers have won five consecutiv­e baseball games and now stand at 6-4 overall entering the new week.

Ringgold 5, Model 4

Win No. 3 on the season came Thursday on the road in eight innings as the Tigers scored three times in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Two of those runs came in on a two-run single by Mason Parker.

Down 4-3, Model would use two singles and a Ringgold error to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, but in the top of the eighth, Kyle White led off with a single, took second on a passed ball and stole third before racing home on a sacrifice fly by Parker, who finished with two hits and four RBIS on the night.

The Blue Devils would put the tying run on base to lead off the bottom of the eighth, but pitcher Mccain Mangum would set down the next three batters in order to seal the victory.

Mangum threw three innings of relief. He gave up one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts to earn the win. Kenyon Ransom started on the mound for Ringgold, while Eli Norris and Colin Mountjoy also pitched in relief. The four Tiger pitchers combine to allow two earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts.

Taylor Pease was 2 for 3 with a run scored, while Mangum also had two hits and crossed the plate once.

Ringgold 7, Heritage 0

The Tigers continued their hot streak on a cold night as they allowed just one hit in a victory over their cross county rivals at Bill Womack Field on Friday.

Brayden Broome was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIS. Sam Mills had a hit and drove in two runs. Ransom had two hits, including a double. He scored once and had two RBIS, while Parker was also credited with an RBI.

Chase Ghormley pitched five innings of one-hit ball. He allowed one walk and struck out four batters. Austin Mcmahan struck out three batters in two innings of relief.

Ringgold 7, Northwest 1

In the first matchup of the day on Saturday, Ringgold got three hits, including a double and three RBIS, from Mills as they beat the Bruins in the Catoosa County Children’s Fund Baseball Classic at LFO High School.

White had two of the Tigers’ seven hits. He also scored twice and drove in a run. Parker doubled and scored once. Ransom had a hit and scored, while Broome crossed the plate twice and drew three walks in the game.

Mountjoy struck out seven batters in four innings on the mound. He allowed just one earned run on two hits and one walk. Norris pitched two innings in relief. He allowed one hit and one walk and struck out one batter.

Ringgold 5, Northwest 2

Saturday evening in Tunnel Hill, the Tigers put up three runs in the second inning and added two more in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead before the Bruins scored two runs in the home half of the sixth inning.

Parker was 2 for 3 with three RBIS and a walk. White had a hit, an RBI and scored once. Mountjoy collected a double in the victory. Ransom and Dylan Wright each had a single and scored one run, while Mcmahan had a hit, a run and drew two walks.

The Tigers used four pitchers. Robbie Bates got the start while Isaac King, Hudson Chandler and Parker all pitched. Chandler picked up the victory with Parker getting the save. Those four combined to surrender just six hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts. Both runs they allowed were earned.
