Lafayette posts back-to-back wins for first time this season

The first of three games in three days did not go so well for the Lafayette Ramblers on Thursday, but the Orange-andBlack responded by winning back-to-back games over the weekend to improve to 3-4 on the season.

Murray County 9, Lafayette 0

It was a simply a bad night at the ballpark for the Ramblers on Thursday as they managed just two hits in a home loss.

The Indians scored five runs in the top of third inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Trent Currie and Dylan Deering

each had singles for the Ramblers.

Currie pitched the first three innings and took the loss. He allowed seven runs, though only one was earned, on four hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Deering gave up four hits in four innings. He struck out three, while the two runs he allowed were unearned.

Lafayette 7, North Murray 0

Levi Pettigrew had one of his all-time best performanc­es on the mound in a Lafayette uniform on Friday night in a shutout victory over the Mounatinee­rs.

Pettigrew scattered six hits, walked just two batters and finished with 10 strikeouts in the complete-game win.

The Ramblers scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, added four more in the third and tacked on a final insurance run in the fifth. The Mountainee­rs helped the Lafayette cause with seven errors.

Currie had a hit and two RBIS for Lafayette. Deering and Blake Mann each had a run and a hit, while Davis Richardson had the other hit in the win.

Lafayette 7, East Hall 3

The Ramblers made it two wins in a row to close out the weekend as they traveled to

Emerson on Saturday and posted a win in a game played at the Lake Point Complex.

Both teams put up three runs in the third inning, but Lafayette would add four in the top of the fifth to give itself some breathing room.

Pettigrew went 3 for 4 with three RBIS in the victory. Currie and Mann each singled and drove in a run, while Deering doubled once and scored twice.

Richardson pitched six strong innings, allowing no earned runs on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Mann threw the final inning for the Ramblers. He gave up one hit and one walk and finished with one strikeout.
