Middle School Basketball: Heritage boys start out 3-0

The Heritage Generals picked up a pair of victories last week, including one in NGAC play, to move to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Heritage boys 59, Dalton 39

Last Tuesday in Boynton, the Generals bolted out to a 38-12 lead at intermissi­on before cruising to a 20-point victory in the non-league contest.

Caiden Bauldwin had 15 points, nine in the first quarter, while Kaleb Gallman also added 15 points, thanks in part to a pair of thirdquart­er 3-pointers.

Cayden Lowrey added nine in the win, followed by Blake Debity and Tristan Simmons with six each. Talon Pickett finished with four points. Jace Lewis had three and Will Riddell chipped in with one.

Heritage boys 50, Lakeview 18

The Navy-and-red led by six points at the end of the first period before extending its lead to 29-8 at the break en route to an NGAC road victory on Thursday.

Gallman poured in a team-high 18 points and Bauldwin finished with 12 in the win. Cooper Bell had seven points, followed by Riddell and Cody Bryan with six each. Jacob Dawson chipped in with one.

For the Warriors (0-2, 0-1) Carson Goff led the way with 11 points. Champion Bowman and Zyan Eastman had three points apiece and Jared Mitchell added two.

Dalton girls 40, Heritage 23

Last Tuesday night’s first game saw the Lady Cougars’ double-digit lead sliced to five in the fourth quarter before they were able to right the ship and take the win.

Dalton led 19-6 at halftime and 25-12 going into the fourth quarter when Heritage began its rally.

Macie Collins had a team-high 11 points for the Lady Generals. Natalie Vaughn added four points and Bree Wilson dropped in three. Two points apiece by Addi Dills

and Ema Tanner and one point from Faith Alsobrooks rounded out the scoring.

Heritage girls 39, Lakeview 18

On Thursday, the Lady Generals took a narrow 15-12 lead into the locker room before erupting in the second half.

Wilson paced Heritage (2-1, 1-0) with 11 points. Collins had nine points and Vaughn collected six. Five points from Kellie Boehm and two each from Reese Abercrombi­e, Bailee Hollis and Ema Tanner rounded out the scoring.

Lakeview (1-1, 0-1) got six points from Payton Rolfe and four from

Christen Collins. Mercedes Thompson collected three points. Brylee Pritchett and Skyler Phillips added two each and Micha Valdes had one.

Dade boys 41, Gordon Lee 32

The Trojans suffered their first loss of the season with an 11-point setback in Trenton last Tuesday. Dade led by two at halftime before slowing pulling away in the second half.

Sam Sartin had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. He also added one steal. Layne Parrish had seven points, seven boards and a steal. Parker Scott

finished with 11 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist, while Aiden Goodwin recorded four points, eight boards and a pair of steals.

Gordon Lee boys 43, Trion 25

In Chickamaug­a on Thursday, the Trojans (2-1, 1-0) led by just two points after the first quarter, but outscored the Bulldogs 18-5 in the second quarter before going on to the win.

Sartin had a huge night with 20 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a pair of blocked shots. Jackson Scali added nine points, three boards and two assists, while Scott added eight points, two boards and three steals.

Two points each from Parrish, Goodwin and Troy Phillips rounded out the scoring.

Gordon Lee girls 40, Dade 14

The Lady Trojans earned their first win of the 2020-2021 season by thumping the Lady Wolverines last Tuesday night.

Tenslee Wilson poured in a gamehigh 14 points in a balanced team scoring effort. Macartney Angel had eight points. Abby Logan finished with six and E.G. Hixon went for four, while Kyleigh Custer, Kaley Russell, Kynleigh Custer and Charlsie Mcelhaney all had two points each.

Gordon Lee 33, Trion 29

Logan scored 14 points as the Lady Trojans (2-1, 1-0) won a tough tussle with the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday. Wilson added 11 points in the win, while Hixon had five points and racked up eight steals.
