The Heritage Generals climbed over the .500 mark for the season, but continued to bat 1.000 in Region 7-AAAA play as they picked up an efficient 68-52 home win over Northwest Whitfield last Tuesday night.

The Generals (4-0 in 7-AAAA) outscored the Bruins in each of the four quarters, but did the most damage in the first as they opened up a 19-10 lead before taking a 35-22 lead into the locker room.

Carson Palmer had three 3-pointers, went 6 of 7 at the free throw line and finished with a team-high 17 points. Mitchell Kennedy added 11 points, while Ty Loveless and Cooper Terry had nine apiece. Eight points from Cade Kiniry, seven by Caden Snyder, five from Ryan Heet and two by Bryce Travillian completed the scoring.

As a team, Heritage had seven 3-pointers and went 17 of 22 from the foul line, including 12 of 14 in the final period.

There would be no letdown on Thursday as the visiting Generals got out to a 10-point lead at halftime. They would score the last 14 points of the third period and extended their run by scoring the first six points of the fourth to put the game well out of reach.

Terry had 16 points and Kennedy finished with 10 for the Generals (64). Palmer added six points and Carson Green hit for five off the bench.

Kiniry, Loveless, Gabe Serrano and Collin Swearingin all scored four points apiece, followed by three from Snyder and two by Travillian.

The Lady Generals dropped to 2-2 in region play with the loss. Brooke Matherly had a team-high 10 points for Heritage. Gracie Murray went for five and Elli Jost added four. Three points by Sydnee St. John, two from Lauren Mock and one by Ella Debity rounded out the scoresheet.

Heritage led 13-2 at the end of the first quarter and 24-10 at intermission, but had to hang on in the fourth after the Lady Trojans cut the lead down to three with 1:11 to play.

But on their ensuing possession, the Lady Generals got the ball inside to Mock, who connected on a baby jump-hook with 46 seconds remaining. Heritage would miss two free throws over the next 12 seconds, but the Lady Trojans failed to convert on the other end and were forced to foul Gracie Murray with 17.5 seconds to play.

The junior guard would sink the one and the bonus to provide her team with the final margin of victory.

Mock and Dayonna Perryman each scored 10 points and Murray added nine in the victory. Matherly added five points, followed by Kortney Mckenzie with four and St. John with two.

On Friday, the Lady Generals carried a precarious 38-36 lead going into the fourth quarter, but they held the Lady Lions to just three points over the final eight minutes to pull away for the victory.

Mock had a game-high 14 points for Heritage (7-4), who also got 10 from Perryman, eight from Jost and seven from Murray. Five points by Matherly and three each from St. John and Mckenzie filled out the score sheet.

The Generals and Lady Generals will not take the floor again until Jan. 5 when they host Central-carroll in a pair of Region 7-AAAA contests.
