Ringgold hoopsters end week on winning streaks

After an exhausting, physical contest in a win against Northwest Whitfield two nights earlier, the Ringgold Lady Tigers had a much easier time against Dade County last Monday as they picked up a 48-19 victory on the second day of the Ridgeland Thanksgivi­ng Classic.

Ringgold jumped out to an 18-3 lead after the first quarter and took a 26-6 lead into the locker room before outscoring the Lady Wolverines 16-4 in the third to put it away.

Baileigh Pitts had 12 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Blueand-white in the victory. Rachel Lopez had 10 points and four steals. Brooke Baldwin added seven points and Addi Broome chipped in with six.

Leiah Henderson had four points, followed by Kayla Lopez and Hannah Scott with three points apiece, while Allie Massengale added two points. Scott also recorded four steals.

Ringgold girls 75, Ridgeland 23

The Lady Tigers scored 45 points in the first half this past Wednesday and rolled to a victory over the host team on the final day of the Classic.

Pitts scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Ringgold (3-0). Rachel Lopez had 14 points and five steals, while Drew Burke scored 12 to give Ringgold three players in double figures.

Baldwin added nine points. Broome and Kayla Lopez had six points each, while Lopez also recorded nine assists and seven steals. Henderson, Massengale and Emma Stephenson had four points apiece with Massengale also grabbing seven boards.

Ringgold boys 55, East Ridge 48

The Tigers went 8 of 10 at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter and picked up victory No. 1 on the season last Monday evening at the Classic.

Ringgold took a 29-23 lead at halftime, but managed just nine points in the third quarter as the Pioneers cut the deficit down to 38-37 heading into the fourth.

However, Jayden Williams stepped up with a big 3-pointer and went 4 for 4 from the line in the final period. Alex Otting and O’reilly Matthews each made 2 of 2 free throws down the stretch to help seal the victory.

Matthews finished with a game-high 18 points. Cooper Sexton scored nine, and Williams and Otting added eight apiece. Brevin Massengale finished with six points, while the trio of Gage Long, Caden Dodson and Luke Rominger each chipped in with two.

Ringgold boys 78, Ridgeland 76

The future Region 6-AAA rivals put on a treat for fans by battling down to the wire on Wednesday afternoon before the Tigers were able to move to 2-1 on the season.

Massengale had a careerhigh 31 points and Matthews went for 23 to lift Ringgold to the victory.

The Tigers led 34-26 at halftime and had a sevenpoint lead after a high-scoring third quarter. Ridgeland made a push by scoring 25 points in the fourth, but they would ultimately come up two points short.

Rominger knocked down two 3-pointers and had 10 points for the Tigers. Long scored eight, while Williams and Jordan Wideman had three points apiece.

Ringgold was slated to be back at home on Tuesday of this week with a doublehead­er against Northwest Whitfield.
