Gray tabbed for GLHS Athletic Director role

-

Veteran coach Thomas Gray will take over as the Athletic Director for Gordon Lee High School for the 202223 school year, bringing an experienced leader and motivator to the Trojan Athletic Administration Team.

Gray will be replacing Todd Windham following the 202122 school year. Gray has served as the assistant athletic director for the last three years.

“I am excited for Coach Gray as he transitions into this new role,” GLHS Principal Michael Langston said. “Gordon Lee High School has a legacy of athletic excellence and, with his experience and passion, he will continue to build on the foundation that has already been established. I would also like to thank Coach Windham for all that he has done and will continue to do for our athletes and coaches.”

Coach Gray served as a fifth-year assistant baseball coach for Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah during the 2010-11 season. He then moved back to the north Georgia area and became an assistant baseball coach and assistant athletic director at Heritage High School in Ringgold. Gray came to Gordon Lee in 2018 and has served as assistant baseball coach, an assistant softball coach, and assistant athletic director.

“Thomas has proven he has what it takes to lead our athletic department moving forward,” said Chickamauga School System Athletic Director Chris Edge. “He is an incredibly hard-working person who will be an asset to our coaches and athletes. Coach Gray’s strong background and character will enhance our school and athletic department in a variety of ways.”

Gray is a 2006 graduate of Ringgold High School where he played for the Tigers under Eric Beagles, whom he later coached with at Heritage. He graduated from Armstrong Atlantic in 2011 with his degree in Education. He received his Master’s degree from Georgia Southern University in 2019.
