RINGGOLD SPLITS WITH ROCKMART HERITAGE DEFEATS GORDON LEE

The Tigers stayed in the thick of the race for the No. 1 seed with a 4- 1 road win over the Jackets on Thursday, improving to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in Region 6-AAA play.

Ty Williams and Issac Self picked up singles victories. Luke Bender and Austin Harris won their doubles match, as did the team of Thatcher Willbanks and David Self.

However, a sweep was not in the cards as the Lady Tigers fell to a very strong Lady Jacket squad, 5-0. Ringgold fell 1-3 overall and 1-3 in region play with the loss.

Alanna Godfrey and Hannah Brown did get a victory for the Lady Tigers in an exhibition doubles match.

Ringgold will play Wednesday at Heritage before Thursday’s clash at Lafayette.

The Generals improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5- 0 shutout of Gordon Lee Thursday afternoon in Boynton.

In singles play, Nathan Minton

posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Noah Dockery at No. 1 singles, while No. 2 singles player J.T. Halleron and No. 3 singles player Kaleb Biddle both won by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores over Ben Stoker and Campbell Pierce.

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Anderson Britton and Walker Driskell posted a 6- 0, 6- 1 victory against Bowden Gass and Hunter Fowler. Tanner Eady and Thomas Culpepper finished off the match with a 6- 1, 6- 1 win over Andrew Bailey and Levi Wallace.

Heritage also picked up an exhibition doubles victory as Mckinley Pepper and John Keith earned an 8-1 decision over the team of Mason Edgeman and Jack Waters.

The Lady Generals also moved to 2-1 with a 5-0 victory over the Lady Trojans.

Mia Callahan posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ella Atkinson at No. 1 singles. Elli Jost dropped a 7-6 decision in the first set against Chloe Vann at No. 2 singles, but won the second set, 6- 2, before claiming a 7-0 tiebreaker, while Ella Blansit took her No. 3 singles match against Reece Roberts by scores of 6-3 and 7-6.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Rhegan Simmons and Kortney MCKenzie posted a 6- 1, 6- 0 win over Natalie Jones and Frances Lewis , while Lauren Mock and Brooke Matherly teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 sweep against Ava Rose and Anniston Hudson in the other doubles match.

Rachel Brown won an exhibition singles match, 8-2, against Allison Brown.

Heritage will travel to Pickens for region matches on Tuesday before hosting Ringgold on Wednesday and Ridgeland on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Gordon Lee was slated to play at Dade on Monday of this week before a trip to Rome to face Armuchee on Tuesday.
