Heritage, Lafayette soccer squads earn sweeps

The Heritage Generals and Lady Generals posted shutout victories at Chattanoog­a Valley last Monday.

In the girls’ match, Heritage claimed a 7-0 win behind two goals and four assists from Zoe Parham. Ava Phillips scored twice and dished out one assist, while Kathy Alvarado, Evie Robison and Aireanna Williams each found the net once.

Goalkeeper­s Ellie Kennedy and Avery Carruth combined for the clean sheet in goal, while defensive standouts included Emma Alton, Kaidence Shoelen and Avery Tabor.

The Generals won their match by an 8-0 count as Brett Simpson had a hat trick. Cruz Jackson scored twice and picked up an assist, Kaden Taylor had a pair of goals and Issac Berry scored once.

Landon Talley collected two assists and Everett Healey had one. Colt Chandler and Alex Quinn led the defensive effort in front of keeper Cooper Chappelear.

Boynton, the Navy-and-red doubled up against Dade.

Williams scored five times and had one assist and Parham added a hat trick as the Lady Generals posted a 9-1 win. Audrey Potter scored once and picked up an assist, while Phillips also assisted on one goal.

Kennedy and Carruth each had one save, while Shoelen, Tabor and Mary Etta Williams were named as defensive standouts.

The boys’ game was a 4-0 triumph for the Generals. Taylor scored twice in the win, while Jackson and Quinn each found the net once. Berry recorded two assists. Isaiah Enevoldsen and Bryant Elam were standouts on defense, while Healey made one save to post a shutout.

The Lady Generals closed out the week with a 6-0-2 record going into Spring Break after a 10-0 win at previously once-beaten Trion on Thursday afternoon.

Parham had four goals and an assist. Aireanna Williams had a hat trick and a pair of assists. Evie Robison picked up two goals and Alvarado added one. Charlotte Hayen added two assists and Sadie

Robison recorded one to round out the offense.

Carruth had one save, while other defensive standouts included Alton, Shoelen, Tabor, and Mary Etta Williams.

Results of the Generals’ match had not been reported as of press time.

LAFAYETTE SWEEPS RAMBLER CLASSIC

Lafayette and Saddle Ridge met in Rock Spring on Thursday to face off in the first annual Rambler Classic and it was the Orange-and-black sweeping both matches.

The Lafayette Ramblers got two goals from Aubrey Wrape in a 2-1 victory. Individual scoring for the Lady Mustangs had not been provided as of press time.

In the boys’ match, Braden West scored twice, while Nate Campbell and Eli Nez each found the net once in a 4-1 Lafayette victory.

Campbell, Vlad Plott and Levi Collins recorded assists and Aaron Crumbley had 10 big saves for the Ramblers.

Elijah Decker had the only goal for the Mustangs.
