Max Eugene Cross, age 89 of Lafayette, GA, passed away peacefully Friday December 24, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Pluma Faye Cross. He was also preceded in death by his father, Homer Grady Cross and mother, Kate Alexander, brothers Alton Cross, Roland Cross and sisters Molly Parker, Linda Farris. He is survived by his sons Kenneth (Kathy) Cross and Gregory (Gina) Cross, daughter, Jan (Michael) Marmaras, grandchild­ren, Dr. Andy Cross, Adam (Liana) Cross, Heather Cross and Chelsea Burney, great granddaugh­ters Adeline Burney and Waverly Cross, brothers, Dennis Alexander, Paul Cross and Darrell Cross, sister, Betty Jones.

Max was born in Lafayette, GA on June 21, 1933. He and the love of his life, Faye married, raised their family and were wonderful parents, grandparen­ts and great grandparen­ts. He and Faye traveled extensivel­y to almost every state including Alaska and Hawaii as well as over 20 countries.

Max and his business partner Scotty Mcclure were successful businessme­n in the North Georgia area for almost 50 years.

Max possessed a lifelong passion for knowledge with a wide spectrum of interests. As a younger man he loved - cially loved to hike Pigeon Mountain and the surroundin­g areas with family. Max loved being ‘ Paw Paw’ and taking his grandchild­ren rock and fossil hunting. He possessed an Encycloped­ic study including natural history, classical music, history and literature just to name a few.

He was a Christian who did his very best to live those values every day of his life. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and other loved ones.

Interment at

Memory Gardens.

Pallbearer­s: Dr. Andy Cross, Adam Cross, Mike Parker, Joseph Looney, Lloyd Shadrick and Carlus Gann.

Honorary Pallbearer­s: Dennis Alexander, Bruce Day, Buddy Day, Jerry Day, Randall Brown, Richard Brown and Michael Marmaras.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on December 29 with a memorial service at 3:00 pm in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel. make donations to the American Heart Associatio­n.
