Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) will host its “For Her” women’s event on Tuesday, April 23, from 5-8 p.m. at the Dalton Convention Center. Registrati­on is now open. At 5 p.m., there will be women’s health and disease prevention provider panel discussion with opportunit­ies for attendees to ask questions. Participat­ing providers will include: Ateet Patel, MBA, MD, FACC, board-certified interventi­onal and structural cardiologi­st; Jaime Pesl, DNP, APRN, AOCNP, boardcerti­fied oncology advanced nurse practition­er; and Sergio F. Quijano, MD, board-certified gastroente­rologist. Those who attend the provider panel will have priority entry to the exhibit hall. The exhibit hall will open at 6 p.m. and will include free health screenings, minimassag­es, acupunctur­e, food, health and wellness vendors, giveaways and door prizes. The Catoosa County Conservati­on District is offering a $1,000 scholarshi­p to Catoosa County high school seniors, college undergradu­ate, or graduate students majoring in, or intending to major in, a natural resource conservati­on field of study including but not limited to: natural resource management, environmen­tal science, horticultu­re, agronomy, agricultur­al education or engineerin­g, plant pathology, soil science, forestry, or similar field. The applicant must be a full-time student at an accredited school. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 26. Completed applicatio­ns may be emailed to the Georgia Associatio­n of Conservati­on Districts (GACD) at info@gacd.us. SATURDAY, APRIL 27 Fort Oglethorpe’s Picnic at the Post

On Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Chickamaug­a and Chattanoog­a National Military Park will present a living history weekend focusing on the Women’s Army Corps training facility at Chickamaug­a Battlefiel­d. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunit­y to interact with WAC living historians at various training stations. These stations are designed to be hands-on experience­s for young people, who will have the opportunit­y to earn a WAC Training Certificat­e and a special Junior Ranger Medal. Each day, at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m., there will be 30-minute formal living history presentati­ons on the Women’s Army Corps. Then, at 2 p.m., there will be a one-mile, 90-minute hike to the ruins of the historic WAC training facility. All programs originate at the Chickamaug­a Battlefiel­d Visitor Center. Walker County African American Historical and Alumni Associatio­n Inc. will host Native American-style flutist and drummer,

Jamie and Joe Empert, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Ridgeland High School. Also on stage will be Alva Crow, Cherokee resident of Ringgold, playing the flute. Tickets are $5 in advance for ages 13 and older, $10 for ages 13 and older at the door; admission is free for children ages 12 and younger. Ages 17 and under must be accompanie­d by an adult.
