Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) will host its “For Her” women’s event on Tuesday, April 23, from 5-8 p.m. at the Dalton Convention Center. Registration is now open. At 5 p.m., there will be women’s health and disease prevention provider panel discussion with opportunities for attendees to ask questions. Participating providers will include: Ateet Patel, MBA, MD, FACC, board-certified interventional and structural cardiologist; Jaime Pesl, DNP, APRN, AOCNP, boardcertified oncology advanced nurse practitioner; and Sergio F. Quijano, MD, board-certified gastroenterologist. Those who attend the provider panel will have priority entry to the exhibit hall. The exhibit hall will open at 6 p.m. and will include free health screenings, minimassages, acupuncture, food, health and wellness vendors, giveaways and door prizes. All activities, services and giveaways will be available while supplies last and time permits. Those who registered and attend the event will receive a free gift. The Catoosa County Conservation District is offering a $1,000 scholarship to Catoosa County high school seniors, college undergraduate, or graduate students majoring in, or intending to major in, a natural resource conservation field of study including but not limited to: natural resource management, environmental science, horticulture, agronomy, agricultural education or engineering, plant pathology, soil science, forestry, or similar field. The applicant must be a full-time student at an accredited school. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 26. SATURDAY, APRIL 27 Fort Oglethorpe’s Picnic at the Post
will be Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 10 Barnhardt Circle. Get hands-on with emergency response vehicles, heavy machinery, and more. You’ll discover what it does and how it works. Bring your lunch and join the city for a day of fun, classic games, and old-fashioned fun.
On Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a living history weekend focusing on the Women’s Army Corps training facility at Chickamauga Battlefield. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with WAC living historians at various training stations. These stations are designed to be hands-on experiences for young people, who will have the opportunity to earn a WAC Training Certificate and a special Junior Ranger Medal. Each day, at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m., there will be 30-minute formal living history presentations on the Women’s Army Corps. Then, at 2 p.m., there will be a one-mile, 90-minute hike to the ruins of the historic WAC training facility. All programs originate at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Walker County African American Historical and Alumni Association Inc. will host Native American-style flutist and drummer,
Jamie and Joe Empert, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Ridgeland High School. Also on stage will be Alva Crow, Cherokee resident of Ringgold, playing the flute. Tickets are $5 in advance for ages 13 and older, $10 for ages 13 and older at the door; admission is free for children ages 12 and younger. Ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. which is located in downtown Chickamauga, for tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
each Saturday from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
