Warriors bedeviled by Bremen

After their Region 6-AAA series opener had to be postponed due to weather this past Thursday, the LFO Warriors hosted Bremen in a doublehead­er on Friday and suffered two tough losses to the Blue Devils.

BREMEN 25, LFO 8

The first game of the night saw the Warriors score three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead. Bremen tied the game with two runs in the top of the fifth and the game appeared destined for extra innings.

However, the Blue Devils exploded offensivel­y in the top of the sixth inning with 19 runs on 13 hits, including a grand slam.

Jacob Gregg pitched the first 4.2 innings for LFO, allowing five earned runs with four walks and two strikeouts. Kendall Chumley, Chase Rogers and Hagen Patterson all pitched in relief for the Warriors.

Offensivel­y, Eli Walker went 4 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIS. Grayden Johnson and A.J. Stout each had two hits with one RBI. Chumley doubled, scored twice and drove in a run, while Gregg, Brock Donahoo and Wyatt Huling had one RBI apiece.

BREMEN 7, LFO 1

Both teams had just four hits in the nightcap, but the Warriors — playing as the visitors in Game 2 — surrendere­d five runs in the bottom of the second.

Johnson pitched five innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Cason Robinson threw one scoreless inning with one strikeout.

Johnson also doubled at the plate. Huling went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Donahoo and Carson Goff also had singles, while Goff scored LFO’S only run.

The Warriors also played on Saturday, but fell to Hixson, 17-5, in a non-region game in Fort Oglethorpe. Details of that game are available on our website.

LFO (9-16, 3-9) will close out the regular season at Coahulla Creek on Tuesday and home against the Colts on Thursday.
