GLENDA SMILEY, PLEASANT VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

-

Everyone was glad to have Pastor Flood back in the pulpit Sunday morning. He brought a great message from Psalm 124 teaching about the intervention of God in our lives. In verses one and two, the author repeats himself, because he is overcome with amazement of God’s love and care. Those two verses say “if it had not been for God”. We, too, can say had it not been for God. We have no idea how many times God has intervened in each of our lives to provide, bless, and protect.

Salvation is the intervention of God by means of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction in each of our hearts for our personal need of the Savior because of our sin. If you are saved, God has intervened in your life to give the gift of salvation.

God intervenes in the situations of our lives. He knows all things, and His Word teaches all things work together for good to those who are called and love God. In His mercy for mankind, God intervenes.

Separation from this life, death, is another intervention. We do not know what the traversing from this life to the next will be like. We often fear what we don’t know, but as Christians, we know the outcome. Jesus is with us always even in death. Death could not hold Jesus, and it cannot hold us. He lives and we shall live too.

There is great hope and comfort that this is not the end. Christ died and rose again that we might have hope. Death is not just the termination of this life but the opening to life eternal.

Pleasant Valley Baptist has youth programs ages 3 yr thru teens every Wednesday night. This program coincides with adult Bible Study 7 pm to 8 pm. We send a special invitation for your entire family to be engaged in church and learning the Word of God. Currently, Bible study is looking at the lives and ministries of the disciples of Christ.
