The North Side man who was shot to death on Monday night loved boxing and cookouts with family, his girlfriend said.

La-Rohn Woodfork, 25, was shot in the 2200 block of Century Drive, close to his home, about 10:40 p.m. He was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Friends described Woodfork as a lovable man who was trying to get his life on track after run-ins with the law. Relatives at his home did not want to talk on Tuesday.

“He’s my boyfriend, the love of my life,” said Tiara Williams, 21, who also grew up in Woodfork’s neighborhood. “If someone was being bullied or something, he would be the person saying, ‘Why would you be picking on him?’ ”

Williams said Woodfork was planning to attend Fortis College in three weeks to study heating and air-conditioning.

“He was looking for a job, and he was actually looking forward to going back to school as well,” said Williams, who said Woodfork had attended Mifflin High School, where he played basketball.

Chastity Williams, Tiara’s sister, said she had known Woodfork since she was little. She described the circumstances of his death as “crazy.”

“I didn’t see no type of balloons or (anything),” Williams said of the site where Woodfork was killed. “Nobody even put nothing for him.”

Tiara Williams said Woodfork was “so fun to be around.”

“He was outgoing, lovable — he was like a perfect person,” she said.
