Terrorism fight begins in our own country

-

Why is the United States focusing on the so-called terrorists that we created when we attacked Iraq unprovoked? This political distraction is causing the unnecessary deaths of our young men and women volunteers of our military, journalists and civilian contractors.

We are being terrrorized right here at home in our own urban neighborhoods, which should be declared to be in a state of emergency. If the numbers were people who were infected with Ebola, “state of emergency” would be assigned and the media would jump on it immediately.

We have home-grown terrorists being born, nurtured, cultivated and sent to our schools or turned loose onto our streets to:

Sell drugs and weapons to our adolescents and young adults.

Shoot parents and their babies in their cars or on their porches; kill juveniles and young adults (who are our future) in drive-by shootings, in broad daylight, to be left in the middle of the street, sidewalk or porch, where children can see them on their way to and from neighborhood schools.

Use weapons at family and public gatherings, etc.

Terrorize our most precious resource, the aged population, in parking lots, outside banks and pharmacies, at bus shelters and in their own homes.

These predators view lawabiding citizens as prey. We must do something to protect ourselves and aid law enforcement in making our neighborhoods safer.

To our neighbors, religious leaders, schools, businesses: Where is the outrage?

Where are the march organizers? L’DIANA PRYSOCK
